Folk remedies for cough. Folk remedy for cough for adults how to recover quickly. Cough rubs

Hello everyone!

Each of us, dear readers of my blog, alas, but at least once, but suffered a cough, the main symptom of an autumn cold or winter hypothermia.

In general, coughing is a defensive reaction of our body.

With the help of it, the body releases phlegm in the bronchi, which occurs as a result of inflammation and the multiplication of bacteria.

Therefore, it is always very important to treat the cough correctly, not to suppress it, but to help it fulfill its protective function to the fullest.

I think that many of you have tried to treat cough at home more than once, using various inhalations, infusions and decoctions of medicinal herbs for this. Yes, the effectiveness of folk remedies for coughing has been tested by time.

But, you can use them only if you are sure of the cause of your cough, i.e. if it is caused by an inflammatory process in the body (ARI, hypothermia), and resulted from inflammatory diseases of the lungs or bronchi.

Therefore, let's take a closer look at how to get rid of a cough so that it is not only effective, but also safe for your health!

How to get rid of a cough - folk recipes

Cough - forced expiration through the mouth, caused by contractions of the muscles of the respiratory tract due to irritation of receptors located along the entire respiratory tract (in the nose, paranasal sinuses, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, pleura). The physiological role of cough is to cleanse the respiratory tract of foreign substances and prevent mechanical obstacles that impair the patency of the airways

Why do you need a cough?

Folk remedies for coughs are mainly aimed at thinning sputum and its easier separation from the walls of the bronchi, as well as its discharge to the outside.

By cleansing the bronchi, we rid the body of bacteria and relieve inflammation. The inflammation goes away, the cough goes away.

If your cough is dry, choking, caused by nerve irritation, COPD, bronchial asthma, allergic nature, or caused by chronic diseases, the use of folk remedies for coughs may be ineffective and even dangerous.

In this case, you must definitely contact a specialist and do not self-medicate.

Cough is an unconditioned reflex that cleanses the respiratory organs of lung dust and dangerous substances (allergens, viruses, etc.). But it is not uncommon for this symptom to become permanent. And if time does not take up treatment, it will lead to life-threatening consequences. In this article, we will talk about what folk remedies can quickly and effectively help you and your loved ones get rid of a cough.

Cough: Key Features

To distinguish the reflex from the symptoms of the disease, it is worth checking it by its main characteristics. If you are worried about some point, or you find it difficult to answer, then immediately contact a specialist.

There are the following types of cough:

Productivity

  • Dry (unproductive). It is distinguished by the absence of sputum, frequent periodicity (especially at night) and painful sensations. With additional symptoms, it indicates dangerous diseases (pleurisy, whooping cough, asthma, heart cough, etc.). It is also a frequent visitor to smokers.
  • Wet (productive). Cough is accompanied by sputum, which is formed during inflammation of the bronchial mucosa. This can be caused both by pathology (pneumonia, bronchitis) and by a reflex (for example, a foreign body entering the lungs).

Often there is a change in the nature of sputum in diseases. When switching from a dry cough, it means recovery (with SARS, influenza).

By duration:

  • Spicy. Occurs with infection and aspiration. Lasts no more than 2-3 weeks. Accompanied by a painful and intense cough. But it is protective in nature, clearing the lungs of microbes and sputum.
  • Chronic. Talks about diseases of the extrapulmonary and respiratory system. Appears with a cough, the duration of which is 3 or more weeks. Dangerous for life! Accompanied by infrequent "coughing", inconsistent, but appears again and again. Not protective.

By timbre:

  • Short cough (tuberculosis)
  • Barking (laryngitis)
  • Voiced chest (tracheitis)
  • Husky
  • Muted (asthma)

In the course of the disease, one can be replaced by another. Do not be afraid, the timbre is only a symptom of the above diseases, but an example of what negligence leads to your health.

Reasons for the appearance

The appearance of a cough is not always a bad sign. Without it, aspiration is impossible. Our lungs would fill up with germs, toxic substances, dust, which interferes with the airway. But that's not even a guess. People with such deviations exist.

A bad sign is a cough caused by pathogens:

  1. Viruses - enter the body by close proximity, sneezing or coughing of an infected person. Viruses cause diseases: flu, herpes, bronchitis, etc.
  2. Fungi - transmitted by close contact and spread through the bloodstream. Fungi such as blastomycetes or histoplasma infect the lungs.
  3. Bacteria - are transmitted by airborne droplets (dust). The most common pathogens are streptococci, staphylococci, pneumococci, etc. The latter causes pneumonia.

Diseases most often occur due to the mixed nature of infections. Favorable factors for their passage are bad habits, environment, weak immunity, childhood and old age. And development is facilitated by hypothermia, stress, overload.

It's impossible not to get sick. But if you monitor your health, give up bad habits and “feed” your immune system, then the risk will be reduced to a minimum.

Treatment with folk remedies

Why choose a folk remedy? Traditional medicine recipes, before the advent of modern medicines, saved our ancestors from many ailments. Of course, they did not cure all diseases. But they certainly could have coughed. A variety of infusions and decoctions from grown fruits, herbal teas on the purest spring water - all this gave the power of nature and good health.

Many health problems are caused by the frantic pace of modern times. Everywhere you need to be in time, the morning is not good. And so the whole week. In this regard, the number of drugs is growing, and scientists are finding new methods of treatment. But interest in the secrets of the health of the past has not disappeared. On the contrary, it is being promoted. What has been passed down from sorcerer to sorcerer does not lose its relevance. And one has only to look at the healing properties of ancient remedies, any doubts go away. This is a storehouse of most useful substances! And in our time, and recover and restore the body - expensive or long. Moreover, many folk remedies for coughing can be taken along with medications.

If you looked at the descriptions of drugs, then they are full of side effects and contraindications. And even if they do not appear, then your body will “get tired”. He needs the power of the gifts of nature, which will restore inner balance and restore vigor.

In the article you will find recipes and a description of the best traditional medicine. How do they affect the body and what is better not to take. However, the author warns! If you start your health, then no recipes will help. Consult with your doctor and make sure that the cough (or other illness) is not advanced. An allergy test is required.

Misconceptions in the treatment of cough

Self-medication, especially without any idea about it, is very dangerous. There are no less misconceptions and stories on unverified sources on the Internet. The best option would be to write down the prescription and show it to your doctor, who will either prescribe it for you or forbid it. But still there are statements that have already established themselves as false. And if they advise you, then refuse. After all, the ancestors were wrong too.

Drink milk with honey

It is correct, but needs to be corrected. Firstly, you should drink only with a dry cough, as milk contributes to the production of mucus. And when it's wet, it's enough. Secondly, it is strictly forbidden to give this remedy at a temperature! You can’t make a hot drink either, only warm. You can, if desired, replace milk with water. The action is the same, but it will help people with milk protein intolerance or just taste preferences.

Apply mustard plasters and do inhalations

Undoubtedly, these tools are useful. But not at temperature! Also, if the person who made the inhalation goes to a cooler place, then there will be no effect (if only harm).

Do not open windows to avoid blowing

But this advice cannot be trusted. The patient should be in a ventilated, damp room. With a cough and so barely breathing, and stuffy even harder.

Herbs are suitable for everyone and everything

No, this is a delusion. Natural ingredients are very active, and combining with certain drugs can cause the opposite effect. Especially for people with chronic cough. In such cases, a doctor's consultation is required.

Cough remedies for children and pregnant women are definitely useful

Also not always. Each organism is individual, and in children and pregnant women it is especially vulnerable. Again, a doctor's consultation is required.

Alternative cough treatment is much more effective than medication, if you start it right, consult a doctor. He will make a diagnosis and write out a prescription that is suitable for your body. So, the period of illness will not be long and painful, and the body will receive a number of useful substances for recovery.

cough inhalations

Inhalations are the simplest way to treat at home. They contribute to the secretion of sputum with a dry cough. As an example, six of the most useful inhalations will be given.

Essential oils

Many have noticed that after a walk through the coniferous forest, “breathing is easier”. Inhalations with the use of coniferous oils have the same effect, while they are also treated. To enhance the beneficial properties, a couple of drops are added to water with sea water.

Needles

If there are no oils, young branches of spruce or pine buds are steamed and breathe.

  • You have not been to the doctor, and the exact diagnosis is not made.

If you are doing inhalation for the first time, then follow these instructions:

  1. Inhalations are not done at high temperature, cool the prepared product and only then perform the procedure.
  2. Breathe in front of a pot or bowl, covered with a towel. You don't have to bend over so you don't get burned.
  3. Do not inhale after meals. And breathing should be correct: inhale through the mouth, and exhale through the nose.
  4. After the procedure, do not smoke and do not go out into cool rooms, go to bed and wrap yourself in a blanket.
  5. Up to six inhalations can be done per day (depending on the condition) lasting 10 minutes.

Improvements will be noticeable after just a few treatments. And all because with the help of inhalations, active substances are safely introduced into the lungs (with steam), which contribute to the treatment of the respiratory tract.

Folk recipes with vodka have a warming and antibacterial effect. When coughing, this contributes to a speedy recovery and restoration of the body. Do not get carried away! Do not give infusions to children and pregnant women (people with liver diseases, etc.). Be sure to consult with a specialist.

Cough rubs

Rubbing is an effective cough treatment, as is a warming treatment. Some will remember how grandmothers or mothers rubbed them with various ointments or put mustard plasters. In folk medicine, there are different ways of rubbing, and below are the best of them, time-tested.

peppercorn

Pepper tincture is contraindicated for drinking, but rubbing it is an excellent way to treat a cough. Preparation: chop red hot pepper and pour a glass of vodka. Insist 8-10 hours. Better to use before bed. After the procedure, wrap yourself in a blanket and do not open up to sweat well.

Salo

Melt pork fat in a water bath (not higher than 40 degrees). Rub the chest, feet and back. Wear warm socks and a scarf. To do at night, go to bed and only in the morning take off your clothes. It should be repeated several times. You can use ready-made badger, goose, mutton and bear fat.

Honey

Honey heated to body temperature has an immunostimulating effect. Rub with gentle movements on the feet, chest and back. Wear warm clothes and socks. This method is best done during the day, in order to wash off the sweet honey in the evening and go to bed.

Butter

Keep the oil in the room. Rub the soft mass into the same places, covering with polyethylene. Wear warm clothes and socks. This method is also suitable for daytime.

Oils

Oils also have warming properties. It is best to use rosemary, castor (2:1 with turpentine), camphor and caraway.

Propolis

Liquefied propolis is a great remedy. Rub in the same way as honey.

mustard rub

Mix mustard powder with flour (wheat, potato) 1:1, dilute with water to a state of sour cream. Lubricate the fabric (2 layers) and apply to the body for no more than 10-15 minutes (adults, children 5-7 minutes). After the procedure, it is advisable to rub the application sites with a nourishing cream.

Rubbing contributes to increased blood circulation, the formation of sputum and its excretion, and has an antibacterial and immunostimulating effect. Coughing with rubbing will decrease significantly after a couple of applications. But this method of treatment has many contraindications. You should consult a doctor.

The influence of folk remedies on immunity

This is the main difference between pharmacy medicines and folk medicines. Folk remedies are natural immunostimulants that are perceived by our body "as their own." In the liquid state, the active substances are quickly absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract, and at the same time, a “side effect” that is detrimental to it is not released. Scientists have long studied the effect of herbs and natural products on immunity. You can see this in real life as well. Look at the person who is treated only with pills and at the one who correctly uses the knowledge of traditional medicine. The difference is very noticeable.

What does it mean to use correctly? Firstly, the treatment should be prescribed by a doctor, because a number of drugs have a number of contraindications. And if someone from your environment did not feel bad, then it is not a fact that it will be you. Secondly, the substances contained in some herbs and other remedies are very active. Overdose or misuse can lead to serious problems. And if you are not a specialist in the field of medicine, then it is better to play it safe and go to the doctor, where they will give accurate and correct recommendations.

Thus, protection for your body will be provided, as microelements, vitamins and other useful substances will literally “feed your immunity to its fullest”. And neither winters, nor polluted environment, nor stresses - nothing will break you. A “happy” body will give you energy, and energy mood. No wonder they say that a healthy body is a healthy mind!

Overdose

Many are interested in whether it is possible to “overdrink” decoctions or infusions. Yes, you certainly may! Any remedy should be taken in moderation. In our body there is a "limit" of substances. And all because the processes are interconnected. It is impossible to cook a delicious soup by adding a lot of salt. This is what happens in our body. “Overabundance” must be put somewhere, and if the soup can be poured out, then the substances will not disappear just like that. This causes all sorts of failures in the system. Ranging from minor problems to serious illnesses.

For example, if you drink a large amount of tinctures, then alcohol will be perceived by the liver not at all as a warming agent. For her, he will become a pathogen, and she, as a filter of our body, will get rid of him. One, two, three times. And then, under the constant action of the poison, the liver will not be able to function normally, which will lead to diseases.

With an overdose of some decoctions, especially those containing active substances, there is a general deterioration in the condition - headaches, changes in stool, fatigue and inattention.

Very often, against the background of an overdose of honey, an allergy spills out. Do not ignore it, because an allergic reaction can cause anaphylactic shock, which is fatal. And not only honey. Each organism is individual, and intolerance to any component is individual.

Therefore, you should be very careful when taking certain funds. As Paracelsus (the founder of pharmacology) said: "Everything is a medicine, and everything is a poison."

Decoctions, infusions, tea will help you only if you take care of your health. Cough also occurs due to an unhealthy lifestyle. If you smoke, then it is not surprising that you have a constant "cough". Smoke is a poison, and coughing is a reflex that reacts to dangerous substances. So feel free to quit! Breathing deeply is much more pleasant. Moreover, the lungs are the most important organ, and life is impossible without it. Take better care of your health. Do not self-medicate. If you are worried about coughing for a long time, then this can develop into a chronic disease. And it is much more difficult to cure. There is no cure for all diseases, so take care of yourself. Your health is in your hands!

Hello dear readers. Coughing protects the human body from further spread of infection. How to identify dry cough

Cough is not an independent disease, it is a sign of some diseases. The main characteristic of a dry cough is that sputum is not coughed up, or is excreted in a meager amount. An accompanying symptom is a sore throat. Dry, agonizing cough causes pain, and sometimes even comes to vomiting.

Causes of dry cough:

  • Cold, flu or SARS. Often there is an increase in temperature at the same time. In the normal course of the disease, after a while the cough turns into a wet form, sputum is produced;
  • Laryngitis. Inflammation of the mucous membrane of the larynx, the throat with laryngitis is pronounced red. The disease begins with an itching sensation in the throat;
  • Tracheitis. An agonizing, exhausting cough. Inflammation of the mucosa of the pulmonary trachea;
  • Contact with caustic chemicals. Household and other chemicals cause irritation of the respiratory tract;
  • Pleurisy. Pain in side when coughing. Needs urgent help!
  • Pneumonia. Pneumonia. Occurs in the absence of treatment of the above diseases;
  • Smoker's bronchitis. With the help of coughing, the body tries to clear the airways from particles of tar and smoke entering the lungs;
  • Allergy. Cough is the main manifestation of an allergic reaction. May be accompanied by tearing and runny nose.

According to the duration of the course, dry cough can be divided into three types:

  1. Acute (up to 3 weeks)
  2. Protracted (3 weeks - 2 months)
  3. Chronic (more than 2 months)

In no case should you ignore a dry cough. Against its background, swelling of the vocal cords may develop and, as a consequence, asphyxia (suffocation).

Alternative treatment

Each disease, accompanied by a dry cough, requires the attention of a doctor. But, for the rapid removal of symptoms, or in the absence of the necessary medicines, you can use folk remedies. They are based on the use of simple, affordable components, often found in the home. The advantage is that traditional medicine has been tested for decades and really has an effect. Folk remedies are absolutely safe, many of them can be used from an early age.

The Russian people believe: everything that is created by one's own hands has a special energy and keeps a piece of the creator's soul!

We offer this recipe: mix chamomile, dried rose hips, plantain. One tablespoon of each plant. Rosehip must first be crushed. You can add honey, but first you need to cool the broth well. During the day, take a few sips every 2-3 hours.

Inhalations

This method helps the smallest particles of medicinal substances to enter the respiratory tract in the form of vapor. Inhalation moisturizes the irritated throat and ensures the flow of nutrients directly to the focus of the disease, without exerting a general effect on the body. The procedure helps to thin the mucus and suppress paroxysmal cough. The airways are cleared after just a few applications.

  • An excellent effect is provided by inhalations with saline, mineral water or with the addition of soda. Alkaline vapors reduce the viscosity of sputum. Pour mineral water or mortar into hot water and breathe until the mixture cools down. Follow the proportions 1:1. To carry out inhalation with the addition of soda, dissolve half a teaspoon in 250 ml of hot water.
  • Essential oils have many miraculous properties. Prepare a kettle of hot water, drop a few drops of any coniferous or eucalyptus oil into it. Vapors should be inhaled for about 5 minutes.

Warming ointments (compresses, rubbing)

The main advantage of these methods is the absence of contraindications. Active substances practically do not enter the bloodstream and are not absorbed through the digestive tract, and therefore do not have a systemic effect on the body. These treatments are suitable even for young children. In addition, the methods are very economical and affordable.
