- a disease to which women over the age of 30 are predisposed, who have not had a pregnancy and lactation period, as well as those who have hormonal disorders. Sometimes women doubt whether it is necessary to treat mastopathy, or whether the neoplasms will go away on their own. Doctors have no such doubts, since the advanced stages of mastopathy can degenerate into malignant tumors.

Mastopathy is characterized by the growth of breast tissue:

  • connecting;
  • alveoli;
  • ducts;
  • fatty (in rare cases).

The disease occurs in several forms. The very first is diffuse mastopathy. It is characterized by the appearance of small balls that can spread throughout the mammary gland. Symptoms at this stage are mild, a woman may feel:

  • slight soreness, especially during the premenstrual period;
  • balls in the upper chest may appear and disappear;
  • no discharge from the nipples.

Often a woman does not pay attention to such signs of the disease, which provokes a further progression of the disease and nodes begin to appear. These are dense formations, their sizes can reach the volume of a walnut. Symptoms, at this stage, are pronounced:

  • severe pain that does not go away after menstruation;
  • bloody discharge from the nipples;
  • clearly palpable seals.

The best results of treatment can be achieved at the diffuse stage of the disease.

There are three more stages that occur during the progression of the disease:

  • fibrous;
  • cystic;
  • fibrocystic.

At the fibrous stage, seals occur in the connective tissues, and the cystic stage is characterized by damage to the alveoli and ducts. Familiar to most modern women. Such a pathology is characterized by pathological growth of the mammary gland with the formation of specific seals of a benign nature in it.

Usually pathology is preceded by a hormonal imbalance. If proper therapy is not provided, then breast formations can degenerate into cancer.

Symptoms

Women tend to sometimes experience some soreness in the breasts on the eve of menstruation.

If the pain in the mammary gland becomes periodic, then there is reason to be wary, because the main symptom of mastopathy is pain.

A pulling sensation, aching or dull soreness in the chest, which intensifies every month on the eve of menstruation, indicates the development of mastopathy.

In general, the pain syndrome can manifest itself periodically or disturb the patient constantly. Sometimes painful discomfort is given in the shoulder blade, arm, shoulder region.

It is noteworthy that about 15% of patients with mastopathy do not experience pain symptoms, which experts attribute to high levels of individual pain threshold. In addition to pain, mastopathy processes are accompanied by:

  • secretions. A similar symptom can occur by itself or occurs with characteristic pressure on the nipple area. The nature of the discharge can be insignificant or plentiful. Shades of the separated secret are transparent, whitish, bloody, greenish, black-brown. The most alarming sign is the presence of a bloody mammary secretion, a similar sign often indicates the development of malignant oncology;
  • seals or knots. During self-examination, seals with uneven contours and indefinite boundaries are probed. If the nodular form of mastopathy has developed, then a clearly limited node is palpated in the mammary gland tissue. The complexity of such a diagnosis lies in the identity of the symptoms of nodular mastopathy and breast cancer. Therefore, to clarify the diagnosis, a consultation with a mammologist and a biopsy is necessary;
  • Swelling of mammary glandular tissues. Occurs in connection with breast engorgement, which is caused by swelling and venous congestion. This symptom is characterized by the presence of mastalgia and mastodynia.

These manifestations can be observed separately or disturb the woman together or in different combinations. One way or another, the presence of such manifestations is a very good reason to contact a mammologist.

In addition, if skin rashes occur on the chest, it is not recommended to use local remedies for treatment.

Unlike the above drugs, Vishnevsky's ointment is not recommended for mastopathy.

This drug is intended to accelerate abscess processes with a view to the subsequent withdrawal of suppuration through the skin surface. And mastopathy processes are in no way connected with abscesses and purulent reactions, therefore, the use of such an ointment is inappropriate here.

However, some sources provide recipes containing Vishnevsky's ointment as an active ingredient:
