With what psalm is the prayer to the life-giving cross read? Prayer to the life-giving cross in Russian. Prayer to the Honest and Life-Giving Cross briefly

Prayer to the Life-Giving Cross can help anyone who finds themselves in trouble.

Why pray? From the holy scriptures it is known that the Lord said: “Without Me you cannot do anything.” We must constantly pray - call on God to give us strength to fight sin. Prayer is a conversation with God; it is our reliable companion. Prayer will help in any situation.

The cross is a sign of our Lord Jesus Christ, who came to earth to suffer for people and was crucified on the cross to save us from sins and death. It is imperative to wear a pectoral cross and not take it off anywhere and never until your death. A Christian without it is a warrior without weapons. Therefore, every Christian should honor the Crucifixion of Christ and bow before it.

In addition, in some cases of life, we especially depict a cross on ourselves, dedicating ourselves to God: we are baptized. To do this, we fold the first three fingers of the right hand together, and bend the remaining two down towards the palm. We place three folded fingers on the forehead, chest, right and left shoulder. Three joined fingers show that we believe that God is Trinity: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

This is not one person, but Three Persons, these are not three gods, but One God. Two fingers bent down shows that we believe that our Savior Jesus Christ is both Real God and real man, the God-man.

In the 3rd century AD. the mother of the Roman Emperor Constantine, Queen Helena, spread the Christian faith. At the request of her son, she went to Jerusalem to find the very cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified. 3 trees were found at the excavation site.

To determine which cross was real, they brought a sick woman. As soon as she touched the third of them, she recovered. Then they brought the deceased and placed the found trees on him one by one. Nothing happened from the first two, but the third cross revived the dead man.

People began to worship the Holy Cross. There were so many people that everyone could not approach him. And then the bishop, standing on an elevated place, raised or erected the shrine several times, and the people repeated: “Lord have mercy.” The church celebrates and remembers the Exaltation of the Cross on September 14 (old style).

In the Yaroslavl region, in the village of Godenovo, there is a temple of St. John Chrysostom, in which a great shrine is kept - the Life-giving Cross of the Lord. St. Nicholas appeared from heaven in a pillar of light to the shepherds grazing cattle in the swamp and presented them with the Crucifixion. A lot of believing Orthodox Christians come to this temple to venerate and touch the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord.

Many cases of the miraculous power of this shrine have been recorded.

How should a Christian pray?

Jesus Christ said: “When you pray, go into your room and, having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.”

This means that prayer should not be ostentatious, but internal, intimate, secret; the result of such prayer will be obvious.

Prayer should be short and attentive. Its strength lies not in verbosity, but in sincerity and cordiality. It's not about quantity, but about the quality of prayer.

The prayer to the Cross should be said, like any other prayer, with understanding. The person praying must understand with his mind the meaning of each word, and not just move his lips and read the text. Before you begin to pray, you need to put aside all vain matters and turn your whole mind to God.

What is the use of prayer that is done without attention and without meaning? A great thing is prayer combined with faith! She is capable of working miracles. When praying to the Life-Giving Cross, you must make the sign of the cross.

Preserved in the Orthodox “Prayer Book,” a prayer to the honorable life-giving Cross has reached our times in the Old Slavonic language, the text: “May God rise again, and may His enemies be scattered, and may those who hate Him flee from His face.

Like smoke disappears, let them disappear; as wax melts from the face of fire, so let demons perish from the face of those who love God and sign the sign of the cross, and in joy say: Rejoice, Most Honest and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, drive away the demons by the power of our drunken Lord Jesus Christ hundred, who descended into hell and trampled upon the power the devil, and who gave us His Honest Cross to drive away every adversary.

Oh, Most Honest and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord! Help me with the Holy Virgin Mary and with all the saints forever. Amen."

There is also a shortened version of the prayer to the Honest Life-Giving Cross: “Protect me, Lord, by the power of Your Honest and Life-Giving Cross, and save me from all evil.”

This short prayer to the Life-Giving Cross, convenient and saving, protects a person from many troubles, from dangers, from sinful corruption, from sorcerers and sorcerers.

There are many eyewitnesses of how prayer to the Life-Giving Cross saved lives in dangerous situations.

The life of every person is rich in events, both joyful and sad. Prayer to the Honorable Cross of the Lord can help in the most hopeless cases. For many centuries, Orthodox believers have resorted to it, trying to protect themselves and their loved ones from misfortunes and temptations.

The Meaning and Power of Prayer

This prayer has a complex, sometimes even terrible history. The life-giving Cross to which we turn is the same one on which the Savior died. In the Orthodox tradition, people turn to him with a request to protect him from the evil eye, damage, illness, dangers and other troubles.

There is a legend that in the 4th century, King Constantine decided to erect a temple on the land of Christ, having found the cross on which he was crucified. But no one living could indicate its exact location. And after a long search, the king finally found an old Jew who was able to indicate the right place. But in the cave he indicated, three crosses were found at once, and which of them became the cause of Jesus’ torment was unknown. And then the Savior himself suggested how to find the necessary structure: they brought it to the sick man, and he was healed.

Since then, Christians have believed that a piece of the great divine power of Jesus remained in the Cross forever, therefore, by sincerely saying the words of prayer, we receive powerful protection and assistance from heaven. The main secret is to pray sincerely and fervently, offering words to the Lord with a pure soul.

Prayer to the Honest and Life-Giving Cross briefly:
“Protect me, Lord, by the power of Your Honest and Life-giving Cross, and save me from all “evil.”

The Cross of Christ is called Honest because it is honored as a great shrine, an instrument of our salvation (they pray before it, they honor it with bows, the use of the sign of the cross in prayers and sacred rites, etc.)

The Cross of Christ is called life-giving because it gives life to those who through baptism have partaken of the fruits of the Sacrifice of the Cross, and because by the death of the cross Christ defeated bodily death, laying the foundation for the general resurrection: Christ rose from the dead, the firstborn of the dead(1 Cor. 15:20).

Or briefly:

(Protect me, Lord, by the power of Your Honest (Honorable) and Life-giving Cross, and save me from all evil.)

The essence of the prayer “May God rise again”

This prayer is characterized as a way to save the soul. The only thing that destroys the soul is sin and lack of repentance. The source of sin can be a demon, a devil, a dark entity that personifies evil and everything connected with it. This is the antipode of God, his direct opposite. And the prayer “May God rise again” protects us from demons. We glorify our God with these sacred words, we glorify the great sacrifice of Christ, which allowed us to hope for eternal life and to continue our journey.

This prayer is seriously underrated because it is not the most popular among Orthodox Christians. Try to read it more often so that God will grant you happiness and salvation. Yes, it is a little difficult to understand, but you need to get the essence.

Previously, during the period of ancient Rus', demons were cast out with this prayer. And today this tradition has been preserved, not only in Russia, but also in Catholic countries. The prayer “May God rise again” will help you find the strength to do good and help your neighbors. This is a miraculous prayer that can be put on a par with the Our Father. The Prayer to the Venerable Cross is part of the evening prayers of the daily prayer rule.

Soon Constantine met Judas on his way, who told him that the Cross was in a deep cave, under a pagan temple. The problem was that three identical crosses were found there. The Tsar decided to identify the Cross by the miracles it could perform. The crosses were brought one by one to the sick woman, and he worshiped one and the illness left her.   • It is recommended to read this prayer at night, before going to bed, in a relaxed state. You cannot pray with the TV or radio on; there must be complete silence so as not to distract the mind to extraneous things;
  • after pronouncing the text, you need to make the sign of the cross 3 times, you can cross the bed.

Psalm 90:

Living in the help of the Most High, he will settle in the shelter of the Heavenly God. Says the Lord: Thou art my Protector and my Refuge, my God, and I trust in Him. For He will deliver you from the snare of the trap, and from rebellious words, His splash will overshadow you, and under His wing you hope: His truth will surround you with weapons. Do not be afraid from the fear of the night, from the arrow that flies during the day, from the thing that passes in the darkness, from the cloak, and from the demon of the midday. Thousands will fall from your country, and darkness will be at your right hand, but it will not come close to you; Look before your eyes, and you will see the reward of sinners. For You, O Lord, are my hope, You have made the Most High your refuge. Evil will not come to you, and wound will not approach your body, as His Angel commanded you to keep you in all your ways. They will lift you up in their arms, but not when you dash your foot against a stone; tread on the asp and the basilisk, and cross the lion and the serpent. For I have trusted in Me, and I will deliver, and I will cover, and because I have known My name. He will call to Me, and I will hear him: I am with him in sorrow, I will destroy him and glorify him, I will fill him with long days, and I will show him My salvation.

Prayer to the Holy and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord:

Before the wondrous miraculous power, the Four-pointed and Tripartite Cross of Christ, spread out in the dust at your foot, I bow to you, the Honest Tree, which drives away all demonic shooting from me and frees me from all troubles, sorrows and misfortunes. You are the Tree of Life. You are the purification of the air, the illumination of the holy temple, the fencing of my home, the guarding of my bed, the enlightenment of my mind, heart and all my feelings. Your holy sign has protected me from the day of my birth, enlightened me from the day of my baptism; it is with me and on me all the days of my life: both on dry land and on the waters. It will accompany me to the grave, and will overshadow my ashes. It, the holy sign of the miraculous Cross of the Lord, will announce to the whole universe about the hour of the general resurrection of the dead and the last Terrible and Righteous Judgment of God. About the All-Honorable Cross! With your overshadowing, enlighten, teach and bless me, unworthy, always undoubtedly believing in Your invincible Power, protect me from every adversary and heal all my mental and physical ailments. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, by the power of Your Honest and Life-giving Cross, have mercy and save me, a sinner, from now and forever. Amen.

Psalm 45:

God is our Refuge and Strength, our Helper in the sorrows that have come upon us greatly. For this reason let us not be afraid, for the earth is always troubled and the mountains are given into the hearts of the sea. They made noise and trembled their waters, they trembled the mountains with His strength. The river's aspirations rejoice the city of God: the Most High has sanctified His village. God is in his midst, and does not move: God will help him in the morning. The pagans are in turmoil, and you will stray from the kingdom: let your voice from the Most High be heard, and the earth will move. The Lord of hosts is with us, our Advocate is God Jacob. Come and see the works of God, even He placed miracles on the earth: taking away the battle to the end of the earth, the bow will crush and break the weapons, and the shields will burn with fire. Be abolished and understand that I am God: I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted to the earth. The Lord of hosts is with us, our Advocate is God Jacob.

In Orthodoxy, prayers are addressed to the Honest Life-Giving Cross as a Saint, despite the fact that it is an inanimate object. This is due to the fact that it is through this symbol of the Orthodox world that communication with the Almighty occurs.

The Cross is called Honest, since this symbol is honored as a great Christian shrine and is treated in the Christian world as an instrument for the salvation of the human race. The Cross is called life-giving because it gives eternal life to those who have joined the Christian faith through baptism. Jesus Christ himself conquered physical death on the cross and opened the way for resurrection.

The history of the Life-Giving One begins from the reign of Equal-to-the-Apostles Tsar Constantine. It was he who gave the order to build temples of God on sacred Christian sites in Palestine associated with the birth of Jesus Christ, as well as where he had to experience suffering and resurrection. To do this, he ordered to find the Cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified. The Tsar’s mother, Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Queen Helena, expressed a desire to start searching.

In 326, she went to Jerusalem for this purpose. She had to spend a lot of effort to find the Cross of Christ, since the enemies of the Savior hid the Cross by burying it in the ground. Good people pointed to an elderly Jew, whose name was Judas, who, after much persuasion, pointed out the place where the Cross of the Lord was hidden. As it turned out, the Holy Cross was thrown into a cave and covered with garbage and earth, and a pagan temple was hastily built on top of it. Queen Helena gave the order to destroy the building, dig up a cave and get the Cross.

But in the excavated cave there were three crosses, and next to them lay a tablet with the inscription “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.” The question arose of how to recognize the cross on which the Savior was crucified. Queen Helena firmly believed that she would receive a hint from the Lord God.

It was necessary to find out which of the three crosses is the Cross of the Savior. On the advice of the Bishop of Jerusalem, all three crosses began to be brought in turn to the seriously ill woman. And when one of the three crosses was laid, a miracle happened: the woman was healed. After this, the same crosses began to be laid on the deceased, whose funeral took place nearby. When the same cross was laid on him, the deceased came to life. Thus, the real Cross of the Lord was defined.

Christians, having learned about this grandiose event, sought to venerate the place where the Cross of the Lord was found. The ruling kings Constantine and Helena decided to build a magnificent temple over the place of the suffering, burial and resurrection of the Savior. Similar temples were erected in other places. Part of the Cross is currently kept in the Church of the Resurrection of Christ.

Legend has it that two trees were used to make the Holy Cross on which the Savior was crucified. Their history goes back to the time of Adam and Eve, when they lived in paradise. At that time, the Lord planted a tree there, which grew and divided into three trunks. When the expulsion of people occurred, two parts of the tree fell to the ground, and it was they who were used in the future to create the cross.

Full text of the prayer

The prayer to the Holy Cross against damage is considered very strong and can protect against any evil, as well as prevent danger. Before reading this prayer, you should definitely cross yourself.

The prayer to the Holy Cross against corruption does not have to be read in the original language. It does not lose its power even in the translated version; the main thing is to be aware of the meaning of the spoken words and it is important that they come from the depths of the soul.

The words of the prayer translated into modern language are as follows:

“Let God rise again, and let his enemies scatter away from him. Everyone who hates him and does not accept him will disappear. They will disappear like smoke from a fire, like the wax of a candle melts. So all those who do not accept the Lord will perish in the sight of those who love the Lord and sincerely believe in him. All who love God sign themselves with the sign of the cross, driving away demonic evil.

Righteous are those who say: “Rejoice, Honest Life-Giving Cross of the Lord. I believe in the power to drive away demons, born of Jesus Christ crucified on you, who descended into hell and defeated the devil. Our Lord Jesus Christ gave the human race His Honest, Life-Giving Cross, so that with its help we could drive away any enemy.”

I turn to you, Honest and Life-giving Cross of the Lord, help me, the Servant of God (my own name), together with the Holy Mother of God and all the Saints, cope with evil from now on and always. Amen".

Short version

To prevent damage, you can also use a shortened version of this prayer. The prayer phrase must be said with a lit candle in your hand:

“Protect me, the Servant of God (my own name), Lord Just and Almighty, by the power of the Honest and Life-Giving Cross, save and preserve me from all evil.”

I would like to note that the Cross has been used as a protective symbol since ancient times. Therefore, turning to him with prayer is quite reasonable and will help get rid of many troubles and problems.
