    Job description of a sports and recreational gymnastics instructor

    All articles Is it possible to hire a university student as a teaching coach? (Shadrina T.)

    The development of any sports, the training of individual athletes and sports teams in the relevant sports for participation in sports events, as well as participation in them, is impossible without qualified personnel training athletes - coaches. Sports competitions nowadays are not just team competitions, they are a demonstration of the strength and skill of the athlete and the tactics of the teacher-coach. The higher the level of knowledge of the coach, the more effective the sports training. What skills and qualifications should an applicant for this position have? What are the requirements for a coach?

    General information about trainers

    First, let's figure out who a coach is. Trainer - (English trainer, from train - to educate, train) - a physical education teacher, a specialist in a particular sport. It is the coach who conducts educational and training work aimed at educating, training and improving the skills of athletes, developing their functional capabilities. Coaches are mainly trained by the faculties of physical education and sports of pedagogical universities. For training athletes and teams who have achieved outstanding results in international and all-Union competitions, the coach may be awarded honorary titles, for example, Honored Coach of Russia.
    The concept of “coach” is sacred for an athlete. It is consonant with the concepts of “friend”, “teacher”, “father”, “master”. For an athlete, a coach is a role model. Great luck to meet “your coach” in this life. The coach motivates the athlete to achieve goals in sports and life, and upon achieving the set goal, he sets a new one. And so on ad infinitum, otherwise, as athletes believe, there is no point in living.
    An important aspect is the psychological literacy of the coach, because it is not enough just to build a training program, determine the mode and load of training for an athlete or team, it is necessary to correctly assess the characteristics of the mental state of each athlete during his interaction with a partner and opponent, promptly and correctly eliminate the reasons leading to failures or conflicts.
    Breadth of views, level of knowledge, skills, authority, love for one’s sport and nurturing perseverance, the ability to unite a friendly team, understand the psychology of an athlete, determination, exactingness, self-criticism, integrity - this is an incomplete list of qualities that a coach-teacher should have. He must be an innovator, be able to see everything that is advanced in methodology and tactics, so as not to copy, but to creatively apply it in his work.
    And although the maximum program of every coach is to bring his ward into big sport, for teenagers and young people the coach, first of all, remains an authoritative and close person who makes them believe in themselves, their strengths and capabilities.

    Naturally, in order for a trainer-teacher to be able to perform his duties efficiently, he needs a higher professional or secondary vocational education in the field of physical education and sports.

    Pay attention!. A person who does not have a higher education can work as a trainer-teacher. At the same time, he must have at least secondary vocational and additional vocational education in the field of physical education and sports.

    According to the general rules, the requirements for work experience in the qualification characteristics are established only for a senior coach-teacher (at least two years), but educational institutions of secondary vocational education and additional education for children, carrying out activities in the field of physical culture and sports independently, can establish requirements for experience work and other qualities necessary to occupy the position of a trainer-teacher.

    Student employment opportunitytrainer-teacher

    As can be seen from the previous section of the article, to be employed as a trainer-teacher you must have:
    — higher professional education;
    — secondary vocational education;
    — additional professional education in the field of physical education and sports.
    Regarding the possibility of employment as a trainer-teacher for a university student, there are two positions. Adherents of the first position, who consider it possible to employ a student, are based on clause 9 of the Qualification Directory of Positions for Education Workers, according to which persons who do not have special training or work experience established in the section “Qualification Requirements”, but have sufficient practical experience and competence , who perform their job duties efficiently and in full, on the recommendation of the certification commission, as an exception, can be appointed to the appropriate positions in the same way as persons with special training and work experience. A similar provision is contained in clause 6 of the Qualification Directory of Positions for Workers in the Field of Physical Culture and Sports.
    In addition, they refer to Letter of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia N AF-947, Trade Union of Workers of Public Education and Science of the Russian Federation N 96 dated October 26, 2004 “On the amount and conditions of remuneration of workers of educational institutions in 2005”, from clause 8.3 of which it follows that completion of three full courses of a higher educational institution is equivalent to secondary vocational education. Therefore, hiring a university student as a teaching coach is not illegal.
    Adherents of the second point of view, who consider it unacceptable to accept a university student for the named position, are also based on clause 9 of the Qualification Directory of Positions for Education Workers and clause 6 of the Qualification Directory of Positions for Workers in the Field of Physical Culture and Sports. However, they believe that a student who has completed even three courses cannot have sufficient practical experience and competence to efficiently perform the duties of a trainer-teacher.
    We adhere to the first position. And here's why. The Ministry of Education still in Letter dated March 29, 2001 N 20-52-1350/20-5 “On remuneration of employees of educational institutions” (together with the Temporary requirements for assessing qualifications and the level of professional competence when assigning a qualification category to managers, specialists (teaching staff)) clarified that completion of three full courses at a higher educational institution gives the right to establish wage grades according to the unified technical system<1>provided for persons with secondary vocational education.
    ———————————
    <1>Let us recall that in connection with the adoption of Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated 05.08.2008 N 583 “On the introduction of new systems of remuneration for employees of federal budgetary institutions and federal state bodies, as well as civilian personnel of military units, institutions and divisions of federal executive authorities, in which the law military and equivalent service are provided for, the remuneration of which is currently carried out on the basis of the Unified tariff schedule for remuneration of employees of federal government institutions" payment according to the unified tariff system has been cancelled.

    Moreover, the current Order of the USSR State Sports Committee dated 04/09/1987 N 228 “On the implementation of the Regulations on a children’s and youth sports school, a specialized children’s and youth school of the Olympic reserve, specialized classes in sports” states that in the case when coaching The teaching staff is not enough to conduct classes with groups of initial training; physical education teachers, instructors and other physical education specialists (including retirees), as well as senior students of physical education institutes and physical education faculties of pedagogical institutes can be involved in this work with hourly pay.
    Therefore, we believe that hiring a university student to the position of trainer-teacher will not contradict the norms of current legislation, provided that the student has completed at least three courses at a higher educational institution.

    Registration of reception

    Let's briefly talk about applying for a job. As a general rule, labor relations arise between an employee and an employer on the basis of an employment contract concluded by them in accordance with the Labor Code of the Russian Federation.
    When applying for a job, a student-future trainer-teacher presents the documents referred to in Art. 65 Labor Code of the Russian Federation.

    FYI. Since the employer needs to be sure that the student is studying in at least the 4th year, we recommend requesting a certificate from the educational institution confirming this fact.

    Despite the fact that the trainer-teacher is a student, he is entitled to all the guarantees and compensation provided for by labor legislation. Let us remind you that a trainer-teacher is a teaching staff, and the employer needs to take into account the specifics of his work established by Art. Art. 331 - 336 Labor Code of the Russian Federation.
    For teaching staff, reduced working hours are established - no more than 36 hours per week. However, the standard hours of teaching work for the wage rate (standardized part of teaching work) for trainers-teachers (senior trainers-teachers) of educational institutions of additional education for children in sports profile is 18 hours per week<2>.
    ———————————
    <2>Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia dated December 24, 2010 N 2075 “On the duration of working hours (standard hours of teaching work for the wage rate) of teaching staff.”

    It should be remembered that trainers and teachers are entitled to an annual basic extended paid leave (Article 334 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation).
