Animation of birds flying on a transparent background. Bird animation

Did you know that in addition to funny animals, there are also funny birds that can also take part in a variety of jokes. If you didn’t know this yet, I suggest you familiarize yourself with the unusual genre funny gifs about birds. In the section funny gifs about birds you will find funny live pictures featuring birds.

Funny chicken gifs

The chicken is considered one of the stupidest birds. And at the same time, one of the funniest. You'll just open funny chicken gifs, and you’ll understand why chicken is in first place. In funny chicken gifs, the birds perform unusual and funny actions, which are very fun to watch from the sidelines. Their fighting relatives in cool GIFs of roosters and funny caricatures of roosters also do not lag behind in the level of humor, giving us positive emotions.

Funny gifs pigeon

What's special about the genre funny gifs pigeon? The bird of peace can also amuse with the originality of its actions. If in funny rooster gifs the birds behave in a fighting manner, then in funny dove gifs we smile at the stupidity and cowardice of the birds described. Of course, there are also funny gifs with penguins, in which funny Antarctic animals are quite mocking each other. But, still, laughing gifs with penguins will not be as funny as jokes with pigeons.

Laughing sparrow GIFs

Funny jokes about roosters amuse most those who are able to imagine a picture of the events described. And sometimes difficulties arise with this. Browsing funny sparrow GIFs, you don’t have to present a separate picture, since everything is shown in jokes anyway. In laughing sparrow GIFs, sparrows come to the fore. For example, in funny gifs of crows, sparrows can also take part, but the crows are the ones making the jokes.

What will you create

Animals are really fun to bring to life. In my early days as an animator, a flying bird was one of the first things I learned how to animate!

This is our avian cute little guy, isn't it? We're going to do this little guy! I decided to make it a bluebird, but it's your own character, so you can completely customize the bird to suit your style. Okay let's go!

1. Draw bird poses

The main poses are called extremes. Drawings that smooth the action between extremes are called in-betweens.

I work roughly, just blocking out the overall shape of the body, wings and head, using circles and linear shapes. The wings are mostly laced - in rectangular shapes - I'm going to add feathers later. We'll add details later, so let's not get bogged down worrying about the details right now.

I'm going to animate the bird flying in place on the screen so we can have a nice loop.

Draw our first pose. My first extreme is a bird with its wings in the up position. Since I'm working rough, I'm also working out what the rear wing does and how the movement of the rear wing matches the position of the wing closest to us. When you're working roughly, it's quite normal to overlap your sketch lines as you work on what the rear wing does.

Step 2

Let's draw our second extreme. The bird flaps its wings so that the wings in the second extreme position are in the down position.

Look good! To show you the two extremes we have so far, I have placed them next to each other on this slide.

Notice how the wings burst in the lower position, the bird is slightly taller in the second extreme. It would look good if you just animated the wings flapping while the body and head stayed in one position, but I like to show how the movement of the wings affects the entire body. The body also turns slightly at the neck to the second extreme when the bird's wings drop.

Now I have two extremes on one slide so you can see the body moving. I made extreme 1 red and extreme 2 green so you can easily see them.

Step 3

Add in-between! Now that we have two extremes 1 and 2, let's draw an intermediate drawing that smooths out the action between extremes 1 and 2. Work roughly - don't worry about the details.

As the bird's wings descend from the high position, I like to show that the bottoms of the wings have a little flexibility for them and are slightly bent as they descend against the drag of the air, as there are wing feathers at the ends of the feathers.

Here's our midway show with Extreme 1 and Extreme 2 in light grey. When I add in intermediaries, I like to favor the extreme that I draw inside. Since I'm working on extreme 2, my wings are a little closer to this position.

The bird's wings follow an arc. The wing is slightly split, as we are looking at the bird almost from the side.

Step 4

Draw a gap between the outermost 2 and outermost 1. The wings move from bottom position back to the top position. Since we're animating a loop, our last drawing will loop back to our first drawing.

Notice how the lower parts of the wings show the flexibility of the wings, and as the wings move back, the lower curves decrease slightly to show the flexibility of the feathers. The hind wing is almost completely behind the bird's head, but you can still see a bit of the wing.

For now, take a look at all our drawings. You may have noticed that when I animate, I left the front wing a little transparent so you can see what happens to its legs as it flies. The wings won't show through when we paint it. There is no need to show the legs through the wings.

Now I've numbered all of our drawings so we've added in betweens.

Let's see how it looks like this! It's going well! Good job! Now let's sweeten up the animation and add more in betweens!

Step 5

Let's add an in-between between our Figure 1 and Figure 2! Notice how I'm still working. Also don't forget about the rear fender!

Step 6

Add intermediate result after drawing 2! We've added one of drawings 1 and 2, and now we're adding one of drawings 2 and 3. Once we're done adding ours in between, we're going to renumber all the drawings accordingly.

Step 7

Now let's add an intermediate one between Figures 3 and 4, still working roughly, still just working in the shapes and not worrying about the details of the face.

Step 8

And finally, for our in-betweens, let's add one between our drawing number 4 and drawing number 1 to complete the loop. Drawing number 4 is in blue and drawing number 1 is in red. Our intermediate color is in black. Notice how our last drawing is also our first drawing!

Let's take a look! It looks really good! Good job sweetening up our animation and making it really smooth by adding all those in one place!

2. Add detail

Add a front detail! Our bird can't smile without its beak, so give it a face!

It's going well - it's a happy bird!

Step 2

Drink, sweeten and add feathers!

I decided to zoom in to show you how I add detail and carefully build the line. You can see my clean line on top of my rough line (the rough line is light grey). I remove my character and prefer to work in a free style, like a brush line. As I tighten up my drawings, notice how I add feathers to the wings and tail. See how the feathers follow general form my rough wing? The same goes for the tail.

Continue! This looks good! It's not a perfect line - it's handmade, so it has a nice, loose quality to it.

Here is our bird in normal size. We're almost done cleaning up the animation!

Looks great! This is a happy flying bird!

3. Ready, set, color!

There's only one thing left. And this...

Color your animation!

Blue is my favorite color, so I chose a fun shade of blue and gave him a yellow beak. Funny! But your bird can be a different color if you choose - it's your special animation!

This is it!

Let's take a final look... Looks GREAT!!

Congratulations! For short time you have brought to life a flying bird. This is one of the coolest things to spice things up because what's cooler than flying? Keep animating! See you next time!
