The Department of Pediatric Otolaryngology of the Central Clinical Hospital is located in Children's Building No. 3, where a major renovation was recently completed. Next to the building for young patients there are three fully equipped playgrounds.
The department provides diagnosis and treatment of emergency and planned ENT diseases in patients from birth to 18 years of age, including diseases requiring high-tech medical care.
The use of modern technologies in otorhinolaryngology makes it possible to improve the diagnosis of diseases, and an integrated approach to therapy, combining a wide range of therapeutic and restorative procedures (physiotherapy, acupuncture, massage and physical therapy), makes it possible to increase the effectiveness of treatment and reduce rehabilitation time.
We use expert-class equipment both in the operating room and in examination rooms. The equipment of the department is ahead of the standard adopted in the Russian Federation.
The head of the department is Kirill Leonidovich Meshcheryakov, otolaryngologist, candidate of medical sciences.
The department has three modernly equipped ENT rooms, where all therapeutic and diagnostic procedures are carried out: consultation, dressings and much more. Each office is equipped with Otopront combines, which allow performing microscopy, rigid and flexible endoscopy with image recording. The combines are equipped with special devices for washing the ears, nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses, palatine tonsils, and irrigating the ENT organs with medications.
The Otopront combine is a multifunctional treatment module with which you can perform the following procedures: rinsing the ears with heated water, rinsing the tonsils using a specialized built-in system, spraying medicinal solutions, and also perform numerous other procedures.
In the ENT office, doctors can objectively assess the respiratory function of the nose using anterior active rhinomanometry and acoustic rhinometry. These methods allow you to correctly determine the cause of nasal breathing problems, be it a narrowing of the nasal valve, a deviated nasal septum, chronic rhinitis or adenoids. The department is also equipped with an audiology room where impedance testing, threshold pure-tone audiometry and screening otoacoustic emissions can be performed.
The Children's Building houses all of the hospital's main pediatric services. This makes it possible at any time, if necessary, to get advice from doctors of other specialties: pediatrician, allergist-immunologist, infectious disease specialist, gastroenterologist, pulmonologist, cardiologist, rheumatologist, nephrologist, ophthalmologist, pediatric surgeon, pediatric maxillofacial surgeon, urologist, dentist, neurologist. The ventilation system is aimed at constant air disinfection, which significantly reduces the risk of intraoperative infection.
Most operations are performed under the control of an endoscope or operating microscope, which allows for maximum efficiency and functionality with minimal surgical trauma. This reduces the number of dressings in the postoperative period, which significantly reduces the risk of negative reactions in our young patients. 3D navigation is used for precise surgical access.
Surgical treatment performed in our department:
- Tympanostomy for exudative otitis media. It is possible to use a radio wave surgical device (Surgitron), which in some cases allows avoiding the installation of shunts.
- Surgical treatment of conductive hearing loss, including sanitizing and hearing-improving operations on the middle ear.
- Surgical treatment of congenital ear anomalies: ear appendages, parauricular fistulas. Reconstruction of the external auditory canal. Removal of tumors of the outer and middle ear.
- Corrective surgeries on intranasal structures and paranasal sinuses. Video endoscopic septoplasty, turbinoplasty. Plastic surgery of perforation of the nasal septum. Video endoscopic operations to restore choanal patency.
- Functional endoscopic surgery of the paranasal sinuses. Removal of tumors of the nasal cavity, paranasal sinuses, tumors of the nasopharynx and skull base using motorized devices (shavers) and a 3D navigation system.
- Operations to eliminate lacrimation, including congenital.
- Adenotomy under video endoscopic control.
