  • Risk of cardiovascular pathologies. The high variability of daily values ​​indicates a high risk of heart and vascular diseases. In such patients, the likelihood of changes in the fundus vessels, atherosclerotic vascular lesions, and left ventricular myocardial hypertrophy increases. With an insufficient decrease in blood pressure at night, the risk of stroke and coronary heart disease is diagnosed.

ABPM is an additional diagnostic method and cannot replace the traditional procedure for measuring blood pressure at a doctor's appointment. The results of monitoring are considered in conjunction with the data of the examination, clinical interview and blood pressure tonometry.

Advantages

ABPM provides more BP recordings than the traditional technique. This increases the diagnostic value of the procedure in relation to vascular hypertension, predicting the risks of pathologies of the heart and blood vessels. Clinical single measurement of blood pressure is cheaper than ABPM, but less informative in differential diagnosis and detection of latent forms of hypertension. The disadvantages of ABPM are physical discomfort and movement restrictions due to wearing a pneumocuff, reduced accuracy of readings in supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias.
