Patterns of clothes and shoes for dogs. Dressing like a brand: clothing patterns for dogs. Dog fashion: whim or necessity

We sew clothes for a pet with our own hands

The time has long passed when clothing for animals was perceived as something unnecessary and preventing dogs and cats from living comfortably. Now no one doubts the need for such things, because modern clothing for pets is, first of all, comfort and the performance of certain functions - protecting the animal from wind, moisture, dust and, of course, sun rays.

Well, where there is demand, there are fashion trends!

Overalls pattern

TECHNOLOGY:

1. Measure the length of the dog’s back (from the collar to the root of the tail) - points (Z-K);
2. Divide this length by 8 (example: 40 cm: 8 = 5 cm) - we get the side of one cell in cm (mm);
3. Draw a sheet of paper into cells with the corresponding side, according to the diagram;
4. Mark “control points (crosses);
5. Connect them together;
6. We cut out two such parts (M-F-Z-K-D-I-L-G-B-N); Attention! On the top side of the overalls (Z-A-B-K) add 3 cm.
7. Next, we cut out two parts - (F-B-N-M) and two parts - (G-D-I-L). These will be the inside of the trouser legs. We sew together each of the halves of the pattern with internal parties trousers;
8. Next, measure the volume chest- (B-D) and “waist” volume - (A-B);
9. Subtract the difference in these places between the real volumes of the dog and the flat image;
10. This difference is the width of the insert on the belly (between the two halves of the overalls)

11. Assembling the overalls into a single whole. We grind the insert in several steps:

a. We start with the neck. We are building up to armpit(end of the front leg) and, having secured it, break the thread.
b. We begin to sew the “underbelly”, add it to the groin (the beginning of the back leg), fasten and break the thread.
c. We begin to stitch the insert to the back leg to its middle (for bitches).

d. For male dogs, cut out the fly on the insert. The insert itself is longer than for bitches. Sewn from the neck to the tail hole (D-G-B-G). A dart is made on the belly side to ensure a tight fit of the overalls on the belly. The fly is finished with bias tape. (You can insert an elastic band, but it will be more rough. If you insert an elastic band, you do not need to make a dart).
12. Sew in a zipper. It can be detachable, or it can be one-piece.
13. Next, we trim the tail part of the overalls with bias tape, having previously made darts according to the figure, or you can do it without darts - with an elastic band inserted inside the tape.
14. We finish the neck part like the tail part. You can do a stand. On one side we make a loop, on the other we sew a button. You can sew on Velcro or insert a tie cord.
15. We hem the trouser legs according to the dog’s height. We insert the elastic bands down. Attention! There should be a slight slouch at the bottom of the shalwar style pants to allow the dog to move comfortably!
16. The overalls are ready.

A small dog cannot do without its own wardrobe. And if decorative costumes can be dispensed with, the presence of functional clothing has already turned from a whim of the owners into a mandatory element of keeping an animal. Functional clothing includes items intended for autumn and winter walks, safety shoes, sanitary panties for home use.

Walking clothes are made from easy-to-care, washable fabrics. Autumn options are single-layer, designed to protect wool from dirt and slush. Winter clothes have an additional insulating layer and are in high demand among owners of smooth-haired and small breeds.

With minimal sewing or knitting skills, you can make clothes for your dog yourself. For the first attempt, you can not spend money on buying material, but use an unnecessary jacket, jeans or other boring clothes.

How to take measurements:

Explanation of measurements in the picture:

  • back length from withers to tail
  • neck girth
  • chest girth
  • waist circumference
  • distance between paws (belly length)
  • chest width
  • front paw length
  • hind leg length
  • belly length for males
  • ear to ear distance
  • head circumference
  • muzzle girth

Pattern construction options:

Simple blanket

You will need to measure the length of the back from neck to tail (segment AB on the pattern) and the circumference of the neck (segment BAB). The “back” part can consist of two parts or be one-piece. In the second case, the fabric is folded in half and the segment AB lies on the fold line. Don't forget to leave a seam allowance for each piece.

Connect the collar and back along the BAB line. Points of the same name on various details must match. Sew the collar into a ring and sew a belt to the bottom edge. The T-shaped part of the belt should cover the dog's back and secure the blanket. At point B you can sew a loop for the tail. If the belt is cut wider, it will cover more of the abdomen. You can sew an insulated lining to the back of the blanket.

Knitted blanket

The numbers indicate:

1 - neck circumference;

2 - back length from neck to tail;

3 — distance from the neck to the elbow joint;

4 - width of the belt on the stomach, depending on desire;

5 - 2/3 of the neck circumference;

6 - 2/3 of the chest circumference;

7 - 7+9 = 1/3 of the chest circumference plus 2-5 cm;

8 - collar width, depending on desire.

Knitting starts from the collar. The number of loops in 1 cm is 2-3.

The collar is knitted in the round to the desired length, then a third of the loops are closed.

Continue knitting the back with the fabric, adding every second row one loop from each edge. When the width of the fabric reaches size 6, continue to knit without crochets. 8-15 cm before the bottom, start removing the outer loops, knitting two of them from each edge. Parts 7 and 9 are knitted separately; the location of the fastener depends on their length.

Vest

Basic measurements - back length from neck to tail and chest circumference elbow joint. The length of the back must be divided by 10, the result will be the side of the square on the scale grid. Draw a grid and transfer the pattern onto it, adding seam allowances.

In this vest, the belly part will be one-piece, and the back will have a fastener along the entire length. If you want to make a vest with a lining, you will need to cut out a second set of parts from a suitable fabric.

Connect the lining pieces to similar front pieces and baste them. Sew in a zipper or design another fastener. Next, sew the back and belly pieces together so that the same letters match each other. Finish the collar and armhole.

You can cut out a collar and small sleeves from knitted fabric or knit them on knitting needles with an elastic band, then sew them to the vest.

Sweater for a miniature breed puppy made from a sock :)

Place the toe with the heel facing up. Mark the places for the holes for the paws, taking into account that the heel will be on the puppy's chest. Before cutting holes, sew future cuts with a needle-forward or over-the-edge stitch. Crochet the sleeves and legs, finish and cut a hole for the tail and genitals.

T-shirt outfit

The easiest way to sew it is from a children's T-shirt. From the collar of the T-shirt down, mark the length of your dog's back. Please note that the bottom of the back should be cut along the convex blue line, and the bottom of the belly along the concave red line. The most wide part The pattern corresponds to the circumference of the chest behind the elbow joint. Carefully trim the edges and baste the side seams to point B. Try the T-shirt on your dog and, if necessary, increase the armhole on the chest side. Sew and finish the seams.

The result will look like this:

So, friends, conclusion: If a dog owner loves his pet very much, then in this case he will do everything for him and even sew overalls for the dog.

The dog jumpsuit pattern is very simple and not difficult to make.

Therefore, even a person who has no sewing ability, but knows what a needle and thread are, can sew it.

And finally, a fashion show - how could we live without it))

Nowadays, fashion shows and presentations of new collections by the most famous designers on the planet are taking place all over the world. Summer is the period when at least a revolution should occur in the wardrobe! And this applies not only to you and me, but also to our pets. Dogs are also no strangers to a love of fashion, so you should definitely learn all the new trends and not let your pet lag behind the world of fashion and style.

You can often find people on the street walking their pets on a leash, dressed in overalls. The cost of such overalls in the store is quite high. If you are thinking of dressing up your pet, we suggest sewing a jumpsuit.

The dog overalls pattern is universal. It suits dogs whose proportions are close to “square”. These are Yorkshire terriers, schnauzers, poodles, toy terriers, etc. For such breeds, you can simply download the pattern. For breeds with a more elongated body shape, the pattern will need to be adjusted a little (the instructions describe in detail how to do this).

You only need one measurement - body length. This is the distance from the edge of the base of the tail to the edge of the collar (in this particular case, 47 cm).

The product consists of four parts:

  • sidewall – 2 pcs.;
  • lower insert for the chest and abdomen – 1 pc.;
  • gate – 1 pc.

Printing out key pattern elements

To complete this point, basic knowledge of office programs is sufficient:

  • download two patterns (right-click the bear on the link, select “Save as...”, indicate the path);
  • copy the pattern elements, paste them into the MSExcel document;
  • click on the picture, select “Size and properties” in the menu that opens;
  • check the box – “scale by width and height” – 100% in the input window;
  • press the “Print” button or the hot keys CTRL+P.

The software will cut and print the template. Take glue, scissors, fold and glue it.

Scheme two:

The best option is below:

Preparation of materials and tools

At this stage, you need to stock up on everything you need for work:

  • main fabric (for these measurements you need a cut of 120 cm*150 cm (L*W));
  • fabric for a warm lining (can be made removable and used as a lining);
  • chalk or pencil for cutting;
  • collar fastener (snap or button);
  • lavsan threads;
  • elastic band – 2 m (you can choose a round elastic band, it stretches less when worn);
  • zipper along the length of the back (the tractor fastener has wear-resistant qualities);
  • cotton batting;
  • scissors;
  • centimeter.

When choosing a fabric, it is better to choose a lightweight fabric with a water-repellent effect. A good option is a membrane material, the bottom layer of which consists of a loose perforated film glued to the base. To save time on processing seams, it is advisable to choose a fabric whose edges do not fray or fray.

It is better to use smooth materials (satin, twill, etc.) as lining. You should not use a net; it can tangle and damage the hair, causing the dog to discomfort.

Manufacturing and joining of main parts

We transfer the pattern to the material. To do this, the fabric must be folded in half with the inside out. Place a sample of the side on top. To avoid distortion of the finished product, it is necessary that the back line runs parallel to the grain of the fabric.

We apply the lower insert with a dotted line along the fold. Templates are pinned or basted. We outline the fixed pattern with chalk, taking into account small allowances (0.5 cm - 1 cm) for the seams. When the pattern is transferred to the fabric, we evaluate it visually and cut it out.

To be sure, it is advisable to initially sweep the product by hand in order to try it on your pet. You need to start sewing from the sides. The legs are sewn together first. The darts on the back are placed in the center, stitched lengthwise and crosswise for strength (dart length 7 cm). Next, we connect the sides by sewing on the lower insert, which covers the stomach and chest.

The prepared parts are machine-stitched using a linen stitch (used for sewing bed linen, rompers, etc.).

It is most suitable because:

  • lasting;
  • the edges do not require additional processing;
  • prevents hair from getting tangled.

We take our own measurements for the dog jumpsuit pattern:

Zipper insert with flap

We sew a zipper along the back line. It should be taken into account that it is more convenient if the movement of the zipper slider is carried out from the tail to the neck. Naturally, you need a strip under the zipper. We cut it out of the base material, and insert loose batting inside the plank. If you need a completely waterproof option, you can make a valve. It will prevent moisture from getting into the middle of the overalls in rainy weather.

The bar performs the following functions:

  • gives the product rigidity;
  • makes fastening easier;
  • Helps avoid discomfort and friction on the skin of the back.

Next, cut out a rectangular strip. Its dimensions are 10 cm * back length + 2-3 cm margin (for transition to the collar and hiding the edge of the clasp). We fold the finished strip lengthwise, but not in the middle, but with a shift (it is necessary so that bottom part was 2 cm wider than the top). That is, the lower part is 6 cm, the upper part is 4 cm. This gap will allow you to wrap the zipper on the wrong side, hiding its edges and batting. This will also solve the problem of “wool collecting”.

The zipper should be shorter than the strap on both sides. The part of the strip that protrudes is placed edge to edge on top of the wrong side of the side along the back line and stitched. Then, folding right sides, sew the zipper itself and the side. Turn the seam inward and sew an additional fastening seam at the edge of the zipper. The second part of the lock is sewn on in the same way, only without the bar.

If the dog is walked in a collar, then a hole for a leash is provided in the overalls. If the dog walks with a harness on, then it is more acceptable to make the bar long.

Attaching to the neck of a stand-up collar

The stand-up collar is cut similar to the placket. This is a rectangle, the width of which is 10 cm, the length is equal to the length of the neckline. Ultimately, the width of the stand will be 4 cm. The inside of the collar is fixed with a special adhesive gasket. Next, the piece is folded in half, inside out, and the shorter edges are sewn together. Afterwards, the collar is turned inside out and, making an indentation of 0.5 cm, a line is laid along the seams on the front side. If the volume of the pet's neck is much smaller than the neckline, then it is necessary to make darts or gather the fabric to the required size.

Fold the edge of the armhole and the edge of the collar right sides together and stitch them together. The collar is turned inside out, the seam is secured with an additional stitch and processed with an overlocker. A button/button is sewn on one edge of the collar, and a loop made of elastic or fabric/button is sewn on the other.

Final finishing work

The bottom of the trouser legs is folded inward twice, and an elastic band is inserted into the lapel. If you need to adjust the width of the bottom of the leg according to the situation, you can replace the elastic with a narrow drawstring with a lace or a cuff with a clip. You can also finish the edges with elastic bias tape.

The cutout for the tail is finished with piping and elastic so that the overalls fit as closely as possible to the dog’s body. A male dog needs one more obligatory hole - for a peephole, so that he can relieve himself normally (cut out and processed in a similar way).

Editing a pattern to size

If the length of the pet’s back is more or less than 47 cm, it is enough to make a simple calculation:

– the length of your pet’s back;

M is a percentage number that is set in the scaling window in the MSExcel file.

For example:

If = 50 cm, then M (according to calculations) = 50*100 47 = 106.4

It is advisable to initially sew a “test” jumpsuit from an old duvet cover or sheet. This will insure you against damage to the base material and will help identify errors in the pattern, because each dog is unique, it is impossible to create a universal pattern.

Possible problems at the cutting stage

If your pet is not quite standard in size, the following nuances may arise:

  • wide, long, short or narrow front legs;
  • the lower insert has sagged;
  • discrepancy between step length and inseam.

To correct the pattern, additional individual measurements are taken. The dog must be brought to a standing position. Do not tighten the measuring tape, otherwise the dog will feel uncomfortable and tight in the outfit.

Additional individual measurements:

  • semi-circumference of the neck (POSH);
  • half chest girth (POG);
  • semi-hip circumference (HH);
  • lateral length (LB) - measured along the side of the abdomen between the hip and shoulder.

Now we will talk about our smaller brothers - dogs and clothes for them. None of the dog lovers will argue that clothing for them in the city has become simply necessary. After all, our pets are no longer the same descendants of wolves, they are accustomed to the warmth and dryness of apartments, and besides, these reagents are used to treat roads from ice...Today I suggest you create a pattern for the basis of overalls for a dog according to the pet’s individual sizes, with the ability to subsequently model this basis and create various models and cuts.

Let's start by taking measurements. Have you ever had to take measurements of a dog? Surely those who buy clothes for their pet and measure the basic measurements in order to know the size and not make a mistake with the choice understand how sometimes it is not easy to do this). The youngest puppies just don't want to stand still! I don’t know how you will solve this problem (maybe turn on cartoons?...), but you will have to do it. After all, you want the suit to fit!)))

So, the most important rules when taking measurements:

1. We take measurements from the dog, only in a standing position.

2. Try to measure in the widest parts

3. When determining the length of the back, it is very important that the dog stands and does not sit or lie down.

4. When removing the neck girth, be guided by the size of the collar

5. Take measurements without tightening the measuring tape too much.

6. Take measurements without allowances for loose fit, or (if you still want to take into account loose fit before construction) do not forget about this during construction! Control yourself by measuring and comparing the dimensions on the drawing with true dimensions the dogs were melting.

ZZ1 (including freedom allowance)

11. Girth hind paw

Zh1M2 (acts as a test measure)

We begin the construction by determining the height and length of our structure. We will need measurements: Back Length and Height at Withers. see fig.1

From the floor line up in straight line C, set aside the distance from the collar in front to the floor line, place point D. Here, at this stage, we will determine the width of the overalls on the side. Section of the pancreas. It is equal to - Chest girth minus Width between the front paws, divide the difference by 2. See Fig. RV = (Og-Shpl) And the distance PO, in turn, is the measure Distance from the collar to the line of the beginning of the front paw, we measured it and we have it in our table.

The OG line is the neck line, we will create smooth lines.

Next, let's start drawing out the belly line of the overalls. We divide the segment PN, along the line of the back, in half with point M. From point M, lower the perpendicular MF1 = (Ot-Shpl)/2 Points LV1. From point F, draw a straight line parallel to CH and extend it left and right, see fig. We divide the segment ZhZh1 in half by a perpendicular lowered onto the straight line Zh. We connect the point obtained when the perpendicular intersects the straight line with t.Zh and t.Zh1

We will each determine the width of the panties along the front paw at the bottom according to this scheme: The girth of the wrist of the front paw + freedom allowance (at your discretion, from 4-6 cm depends on the fabric and processing method, for example with an elastic band) ZZ 1 = 1/2 the width of the pants at the bottom (Ozap + allowance)/2. In the drawing we distribute it in this way - from point B to the left - t. Z, IN Z= 1/3 ZZ 1, to the right - ВЗ1= 2/3 ZZ 1. Connect GZ1, ZZh with straight lines.

For better fit overalls and ease of movement, you need to design a dart. To do this, from the line drawn from T.Zh, up along straight line G, we will set aside a tuck solution of 3 cm. Its depth is calculated by the formula 3 * solution size, i.e. = 9 cm. the tuck solution, when processed, will shorten the length of the trouser leg; we must make up for it, extending it by 3 cm, in the area from point Z1 down. We design the bottom with a smooth curve, see fig.

From t. H down to the floor line we lower the perpendicular HH1. We divide the NM in half, and connect the resulting point to M1. Н1М1 = measurement Height from the floor to the base of the tail.

Width Р1Р2 from the drawing of the front leg. Р1Р2=ЗЗ1, Н1Р1=1/3 Р1Р2, Н1З2= 2/3 Р1Р2

From point P we draw a perpendicular upward, and from point Z1 a straight line parallel to the back line. Let us denote the point of intersection of straight line Ж1 and straight line НН1 as M2. From point M2 to the left, set aside a distance along the straight line Ж1 equal to the distance Н1Р2 - designate it as M21. From this point, lower down a straight line perpendicular to the floor line, to the floor line.

From the point dividing the NM in half, through the point obtained at the intersection of straight lines Ж1 and Р1, we draw a straight line until it intersects with the straight line drawn from point M21. Designate the intersection point as SK. (See Figure 8) Its location should correspond to the position of your dog's hock joint. Check and adjust if necessary.

We will connect points P1 SK and the intersection point of straight lines Ж1 and Р1 as in Figure 8.

Connect points M1 and the intersection point of lines Zh1 and P1 with a straight line. Next, adjust it by making it round, repeating the natural shape of the animal’s body. For a better fit, you need to add volume in the form of a dart, which can be converted into a gather when sewing. Along the newly drawn line from point M1, set aside 3 cm, then the solution of the dart itself is 3 cm, the depth of the dart corresponds to two solutions of the dart itself + 1-2 cm, i.e. 6-8 cm. Design the dart. see fig. 9

From point P1 down, set aside a distance equal to the tuck opening - 3 cm. This will help compensate for the length of the trouser leg after processing the dart. Decorate the bottom of the trouser leg in accordance with Figure 9.

The pattern of the lower part of the overalls is the abdomen. Draw a Rectangle with a width equal to the measurement Width between the front paws, and a length equal to the length of the segments from the overalls drawing. They are marked with a red line in the drawing. Divide the rectangle into 3 equal parts and increase its width in the places of the dividing lines, because as shown in the figure, the lines of the side parts of the rectangle should be smoothly curved, resembling the shape of a barrel. Remember to take your dog's gender into account when designing the length of the belly piece.

The inner part of the pants of the overalls is cut out separately, repeating the pattern details of the lower part of the drawing of the overalls.

Important! After constructing the base pattern for the overalls, check the drawing by measuring the width and length in sections, using appropriate measurements and comparing their values with the measurements in the sections of the pattern drawing.

This is the pattern we came up with. This dog overalls pattern is a basic one, i.e. a base pattern. It includes minimum freedom increases. With its help you can simulate various modifications of overalls on different seasons. These, for example, require almost no changes to the basic pattern.

If you have chosen other models, you just need to take into account the additional freedom of fit you need, based on the properties of the fabric, the number of layers, the thickness of the insulation... You also need to take into account the model features of the clothing, use your imagination!

And one more tip: try sewing a sample using this pattern from inexpensive fabric, where you use a marker to draw the finishing lines and eliminate any inaccuracies in the fit, if any, using pins.

Good luck and creative mood!

Accurate measurements

When creating clothes for your pet with your own hands, you should adhere to the main rules in determining the size of parts:

  • all measurements from the dog are taken standing, in the widest parts of the body;
  • back length is the distance from the withers to the tail;
  • the collar can be used to determine the volume of the neck;
  • The chest is measured behind the front legs.

When cutting fabric, you should add 1.2 cm - reserve for a spacious style of clothing and seams. It should not rub the skin or hinder movement. For knitting, you will need to take measurements corresponding to the chosen outfit.

Constructing a pattern

Comfortable, beautiful clothes designed and sewn with your own hands for a small dog will require time and patience.

Instructions

The knitting process begins from the neck to the tail. A certain number of loops are cast on along the width of the collar. We knit it if it is provided for in the model.
Having received the desired length of the collar, the loops are closed on both sides. Leave 2.3 cm, then move to the back. Loops are cast on both sides of this strip.

We knit a smooth fabric up to the beginning of the legs. Then the loops are shortened, leaving the middle of the back. It is tied to the tail and the edge of the outline is buried.

The collar is sewn in the middle, then the body. The product is being tried on. The remaining part from the neck to the body is tied, and the breast is closed.

The next detail is the back pants. We knit and sew to the notch outside, the inner one remains free.
We knit the front sleeves the same as for humans, calculating the size of the animal.
