Market Colonnade /Trzni Kolonada - a wooden carved colonnade built in the Swiss style is one of the most beautiful colonnades in the city. It is also located in the city center, on the banks of the Tepla River, near the two previous colonnades. Access is daily and free for everyone.

The market colonnade has three mineral springs - Charles IV, the Lower Castle Spring and the Market Spring. Source numbers 2 - 64 degrees, 3 - 55 degrees and 5 - water 62 degrees.

Geyser colonnade /Vridelni kolonada - the newest and last colonnade, made of glass and reinforced concrete. Located in the city center, close to three other colonnades. Open daily from 06:00 to 19:00, admission is free.

Thermal water - the fountain of the Geyser, hence the name of the colonnade. This is the strongest and hottest spring, source number 1, its temperature is 70 degrees. For many, 70 degrees is very hot water, so the water is specially cooled to 50 and 30 degrees. Water of all three temperatures is located in one place, in the center of the Geyser Colonnade.

In addition to the four colonnades listed, there is also a fifth in the city, castle colonnade. This colonnade has been converted into a spa, so there is no free entry. But it does not matter, there were two springs in the colonnade - the Upper Castle Thermal Spring with a water temperature of 49.3 degrees and the Lower Castle Spring with a water temperature of 55 degrees. Walking around the city, you notice that every second person walks with interesting devices in their hands. This is a special mug with a narrow spout for drinking mineral water. Such mugs are sold in any souvenir shop in the city, they cost, on average, 150 crowns.

They talk a lot about these mugs, to the point that they are absolutely necessary in order to prevent water from getting on the teeth and damaging the enamel. Water will get on the tooth in any case, and the water will not damage the enamel. These mugs are used for only one purpose, to drink in small sips, but mostly just as a souvenir. With the same success, you can drink mineral water in small sips from any other container, such as a bottle, even more convenient, or by inserting a straw into the bottle. That's just hot water no need to type in plastic bottles and glasses. It is also not recommended to collect mineral water for the future.

Pools with thermal water in Karlovy Vary

There are a lot of pools in Karlovy Vary, almost every resort and hotel has its own pool. But there are no pools with thermal water. There used to be a Termal, but it has been closed for repairs for two years now, and so everything hung. Now there is a Termal covered with an awning and only decays.

We climbed the whole city, went to many sanatoriums and hotels, but only in one place we were told that there is a pool, but not with thermal water, but with mineral additives, they are called mineral pools. Then I walked again, drank some water and for dinner in some restaurant with national dishes and beer.

Decorated with wooden lace, it has an exceptionally elegant appearance, but also interesting is the bas-relief over the vase of the source of Charles IV, depicting the legend of the opening of the resort. There are two springs inside the colonnade: "Market" (61.6 °C) and "Charles IV" (64.5 °C, it was in it that King Charles IV treated his feet, hence the name of the spring).

The castle colonnade was erected on the Castle Hill a long time ago - back in the early 19th century, the project of the colonnade belongs to another native of Vienna - the architect Oman. Consisting of two parts - colonnades of the Upper source and colonnades lower source, the sources of Zamkovaya Gora are not available to everyone. I have already shared information on how to organize among the beauties of Karlovy Vary. Two colonnades intertwined here - Rynochnaya and Zamkov. Thanks to the lock in the shape of a cube, which is built on a rock, the colonnade got its name. Those openwork laces, with which the entire facade of the pavilion is skillfully trimmed, correspond in style to the open castle verandas, but they already belong to the Market Colonnade.

Let's go up the steps to see the pavilion's luxurious decoration from the inside and at the same time get acquainted with other thermal springs. There are four of them here.

Found in 1769, and ten years later brought to the surface 14 meters higher than Vrzhidlo. It is named after the hunting lodge of Emperor Charles IV.

The spring is located in the semicircular brick apse of the Třni colonnade. Discovered in 1838. Recently, a new well was drilled to a depth of 38 meters. This allowed the source vase to be installed at floor level, whereas previously patients had to descend a spiral staircase to reach it.

It is this water that is bottled by Mattoni, sold in the Czech Republic and exported to dozens of countries around the world.

A pavilion was built over this spring in 1792, which was soon replaced by a colonnade, which became the first building of this type in Karlovy Vary. WITH early XIX centuries, it was here that the guests of the resort most often met and communicated with each other.

It was discovered in 1784 at the foot of the rock on which stood the statue of St. Bernard. A mighty jet hit to a height of 4 meters, and in terms of power the source was comparable to Vrzhidlo. The rock was later demolished, as it rested on the Tepla River and interfered with the passage along the left bank. This is the only source that has two vases. One of them is located in the middle of the Mlynskaya colonnade, and the second, since 1964, on the very bank of the Tepla River.

The existence of a spring, which, in terms of its location and parameters, corresponded to the current Libuše spring, was first mentioned in the Karlovy Vary city chronicle of the 18th century. But then it was not used. Upon completion of the construction of the Mlynskaya colonnade (1871-81), four of its springs were brought into a vase under its vaults.

The spring was discovered during the laying of the sanatorium Lazne III in 1865 and brought to the wooden pavilion. It has had its current name since 1946. An arbor was built over the source of Freedom, which today is one of the historical objects protected by the state.

The source was discovered during the construction of the Military resort sanatorium in 1851. Since the outlet of the source was located directly under one of the bearing walls of the building, it had to be brought to the surface using a trough from a hollow linden trunk. For many decades, the structure has retained all its qualities, and the tree has remained absolutely healthy. It was recognized as suitable for drinking treatment only in 1998. The spring, over which an antique-style white pavilion has been built, comes to the surface at the Richmond Parkhotel, not far from the Japanese Garden.
