See what "IKEA" is in other dictionaries. Long Natural Path for shopping. Why is it profitable to buy goods from IKEA?

Ikea has a number of excellent products that cost less than 100 rubles. And these are not just some disposable things, but quite suitable and high-quality household goods. I decided to compile a kind of hit parade of such super-budget, but very popular products. Many of these celebrities are not on the site.

7. BESTIS cleaning roller. Price 49 rubles. Works well with animal hair, removes dust and fluff from clothes. At our place. A set of replacement tapes of 4 pieces costs 129 rubles. Each tape contains 60 strips - this is more than similar tapes from other manufacturers.

10. Well, our last hero... a hot dog. Yes, that same hot dog from the IKEA bistro. He ended up on this list for a reason. The fact is that at IKEA “hot dogs” are cheap goods with a very small markup, which are incredibly popular among customers and sometimes create the image of IKEA as a store where everything costs 3 kopecks.

Such “hot dogs” will always be represented in the store’s assortment.

The IKEA furniture brand is known without exaggeration all over the world, and the products of this company can be seen in many homes. The Dutch-Swedish company is the world's largest furniture retailer, with billions of dollars in annual sales. IKEA employs more than 150,000 employees worldwide. Our review contains little known facts about this company that customers are not usually told about.

1. IKEA store layouts have a code name.

In fact, almost any store or stand of this company resembles a maze, which is designed so that the buyer sees everything along the way possible products. Among the employees this layout is called "Long Natural Path"

2. There are secret passages

For those who want to quickly get to bedding, but don't want to go through the textiles, bath products, etc. departments, you should know that every IKEA store has hidden passages through which you can get to any place as quickly as possible. They are usually open to visitors, but they are not easy to spot.

3. Shortcuts through labyrinthine stores change frequently.

This is done due to the fact that clients eventually find out all the secret passages and everyone starts using them. And the goal of IKEA management is for the buyer to see almost the entire range along the way.

4. Walls can be moved

Almost all partitions inside IKEA showrooms are mounted on wheels and can be moved. Typically the wheels are locked to prevent people from accidentally moving the partitions.

5. People usually buy furniture that is on display

Usually people do not bother themselves with a choice and order what they saw at the demonstration stand.

6. Sections that are designed to "empty wallets"

IKEA stores are literally littered with piles of small and practical things that are very cheap and difficult to refuse. The departments where they are sold are called "wallet emptying" departments.

7. Bulla-Bulla

Another way to get people to buy something they weren't planning on is the "bulla-bulla method," as employees call it. Large containers are filled to overflowing with hundreds of varieties of goods to create the impression of volume and, therefore, cheapness.

8. You can take a nap on any sofa.

All exhibited furniture can be tested. The client has the right to lie down on any sofa or bed and take a nap. The staff will wake him up only after 2-3 hours. This is done to make people feel at home in stores, and also because after such “test drives” customers are more willing to buy furniture.

9. People who are aware of the nuances prefer not to sleep on furniture in a store.

Pillows on show beds are changed only once a month, and pillowcases are changed only when they look dirty. The same goes for blankets and duvet covers.

10. Opening packages

Customers at IKEA can touch any product and willingly take advantage of this opportunity. They touch the products, try them by touch, try how they can sit or lie on them. But often customers open the packaging of goods, after which stores simply cannot sell these goods and are forced to send them for cleaning and repackaging or write them off.

11. Store employees are prohibited from offering help or intruding themselves.

Passive-aggressive shoppers are likely to be disappointed in an IKEA store. Employees are given instructions: “If a client needs help, he should contact the sales consultant himself. It is necessary to explain something to clients only if they themselves ask for it.”

12. Books in the exhibition hall are often brought by employees from home libraries

IKEA stores sell bookshelves among other products, but empty shelves are not particularly attractive. Therefore, employees are asked to bring books from their own collections to fill the empty space. As a rule, management asks you to bring books that match a certain color scheme.

13. Most popular products

Wardrobe BILLY and table LACK.

14. By serial numbers you can find out almost everything about a product

The eight-digit code assigned to each IKEA product hides many useful information. For example, if the code ends with 40, it means blue goods. The penultimate digit 4 indicates the range blue flowers, and if there is a 1 at the end, then it is light blue, and 2 is dark blue.

15. Quarrels in the store

Couples who really want to test their relationship should go to IKEA and pick something up. Quarrels between lovers happen in stores so often that some psychologists advise their patients to go to the store if they doubt their feelings.

16. Personnel communicate in coded phrases in case of incidents

In the event of any incident in the store, coded messages are transmitted through the intercom. For example, “Code 22” indicates a payment-related incident near the cash register, and “Code 99” indicates that a child is lost in the store.

17. A few hours before opening

At the end of the night, all internal partitions (which, as mentioned above, are on wheels) are moved. This is done in such a way as to create a large empty space in the center of the store. Pallets of new goods are delivered there, which are packaged until the store opens.

18. Christmas gifts

IKEA is quite well known for providing good year-end benefits to its employees. Gifts are often given out - from electronics to air tickets to anywhere in the world.

19. IKEA sales are growing thanks to Pinterest

Employees of the network claim that if a product starts selling very quickly, it means that its photo and description were posted by one of the buyers on the Pinterest service.

Especially for those who decided to save money on buying new furniture. Anyone can do this.

There is a crush and a line of hungry people at the exit, yes, the very same ones who have had a blast and are standing like a snake for free soy sausages and ice cream powder.

Surely you have already heard the story about food at cost, if not, then I will remind you. The main thesis is “how IKEA, with the help of cheap food, pushes visitors to buy furniture.”
So, it was not by chance that this story was thrown into your brain. Today, even without this, almost everyone knows that IKEA has stylish products, albeit not always good quality, but absolutely at prices lower than the rest of the market, and everything comparable, but of higher quality, costs literally several times more. Those who do not agree may not read further.

So, they figured out how to earn even more money on a non-core service and came to the conclusion that they would sell goods from Sweden to their visitors, as well as feed them. That's how the sale of hot dogs at the exit of the store started. Today, this rather clumsy, small hot dog costs 25 rubles, but you will also take a drink with it, which costs 45 rubles, so in total a terribly small hot dog with a drink will cost you 70 rubles. I am sure that the same cost price there is below 20 rubles. And if you look closely, few people take just one, often two or more, and on top of that they also get powdered ice cream for 20 rubles, which is less than at McDonald’s, only McDonald’s doesn’t sell furniture, and in terms of grams, ice cream costs less there.

Of course, such a price can only be maintained with large sales volumes, comparable to sales at McDonald's, and for this we came up with our story about food at cost.

But note that our fake former IKEA restaurateur is talking specifically about the IKEA restaurant, and although looking at the prices it’s clear that this is not the cheapest place, just in case, I decided on an objective review and looked at the nearest IKEA store, in my case it was Teply Stan.

To be completely honest with you, I didn’t come to IKEA at all, but to OBI for drywall, and remembering this story, I stopped by to review the IKEA restaurant.

And then the first thing that catches your eye is the gigantic line at the food line.

I won’t say that it is very difficult, but I stood there for about 30-40 minutes. It is necessary to make an allowance that this is a day off; I admit that on weekdays it is shorter.

And it turns out that people fell for the story and some of the visitors came here specifically to have a snack. Of course, they didn’t all come to IKEA Teply Stan specifically for lunch, it’s just that there’s more than one store here, there’s also OBI, AUCHAN, and MEGA. There are a lot of visitors, and it is difficult to find a free space in the parking lot.

Well, I came closer to the tape and some prices are already visible, but what do we have there?

So, 15 meatballs cost more than a full lunch in a factory canteen; in some areas of the city you can afford a full business lunch for this amount.

Almond cake with toffee - 149 rubles, in fact it’s just a small cake, since the whole cake costs 359 rubles.

Chicken salad - 149 rubles, which also requires a sauce for 15 rubles.

Well, here the dishes are comparable to a full-fledged business lunch in a chain restaurant.

Those same meatballs.

And a terrible powder soup for 39 rubles, I became curious and took it.

Water, there’s a problem with it, obviously not at cost, I take 1 liter at retail for 45 rubles, I’m sure they’re still charging a decent price there.

And the most important thing here is not to take an empty glass, since it costs the same as a drink.

And then a guy in IKEA corporate clothes runs up to me and demands that I stop taking photographs or show permission for it. I ask if this is a public place, to which I receive a negative answer. The guy insists and threatens security, to which I ask you not to stop and call the police immediately. The guy leaves and I continue filming.

I go to the cashier.

Babat, I can’t believe my eyes, my modest lunch is almost 600 rubles.

And here’s the lunch itself, you must admit, you won’t be able to overeat yourself, and if it weren’t for the diet, I would have taken twice as much.

What do we have here?

I go to the tasting room in the common room.

Yeah, as I already said, the soup costs 39 rubles, it tastes like pure starch with salt + mushroom scraps. I tried it and put it aside, I won’t swear here, but I wouldn’t recommend this substance as a first course.

Chicken salad - 149 rubles and I haven’t bought the sauce yet. At first glance, the portion seems voluminous, but in fact the salad here is “the cat cried”, the only tomato, or rather a small slice, lies at the very bottom of the plate. Several pieces of chicken, radishes, lettuce and greens. You can eat it, but the portion is terribly small.

Dry and cold fish - for 349 rubles, if not for the sauce, it would be completely disgusting. But there wasn’t enough sauce either; here the half-eaten soup saved me; the potatoes somehow went away with it.

Well, water for 59 rubles. Doctors have forbidden me to drink anything else.

I don’t know about you, but it will be very difficult to convince me that all this food is at cost, I know many places in Moscow where, with a budget of 600 rubles, the ration will be larger, and the food will taste better, so they will serve you and you won’t have to stand in line.

As a child, we all dreamed of being forgotten in a toy store for at least one night, in order to play enough with all this variety. Now we have grown up and dream about completely different, adult things. For example, so that we are forgotten in the IKEA hypermarket. This is what this series of promotional photographs is all about. “What if you lived at IKEA?” from Christian Gideon.

The furniture company IKEA has always approached its own advertising with great respect and great imagination. Moreover, she usually advertises not specific products, but her brand itself. And, I must say, she does it in a very creative and varied way. Take or, which is a kitchen on a tree.

So the new advertising project from IKEA, embodied by photographer Christian Gideon, turned out to be very unusual and memorable. A series of photographs with the general title “What if you lived at IKEA?” talks about what people would do if they lived in an IKEA store.

These photographs depict two ordinary men aged from 20 to 30 years old who live for themselves full life: reading books, taking a shower, cooking, doing laundry, sleeping, watching TV, working in the office, going through old photographs, cleaning the house, and the like. But this happens not in a private house or apartment, but in an IKEA hypermarket.

The essence of this photo project is obvious to anyone. IKEA stores have all the furniture and many other products, necessary for a person for life. You just need to come and buy them. And, if there is any doubt, anyone can touch this furniture, use it: sit on sofas, lie on beds, go to the toilet. Although, no, the latter is unlikely.

And, I must say, after looking at the photos “What if you lived at IKEA?” from Christian Gideon, one of the slogans of this Swedish furniture giant, namely, “IKEA it’s our home,” is perceived completely differently.
