Health, as defined by WHO, is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. The health of a person and society as a whole depends on many social, natural and biological factors. Scientists argue that the health of the people is determined by 50-55% by lifestyle (OL), by 20-25% by environmental factors, by 20% by biological (hereditary) factors and by 10% by medicine.

A way of life is a set of typical types of life activity of a person, a social group, society as a whole, which is taken in unity with the conditions of life. This concept is quite broad. IN Lately in the coolant, more and more often, such two of its components are distinguished - healthy lifestyle and non-healthy lifestyle. Although the concept of “healthy lifestyle” has been established in our society relatively recently (in the 80s of the 20th century), however, the people have always used the norms and rules of a healthy lifestyle, throughout the history of mankind.

Scientific and technological progress has dramatically changed (and continues to change) labor activity person. IN modern conditions the role of mental labor is constantly increasing, and the share of physical labor is decreasing. All this leads to the fact that knowledge workers in the course of their professional activities, as a rule, do not receive physical activity in the required (sufficient) volume and quality. But the human body still needs these loads. Consequently, only physical culture, sports, tourism become practically the most effective and economical way of providing physical activity for a modern person.

At each stage of its development, humanity has always had in its arsenal such norms of life that ultimately were aimed at the creation and creation of material and spiritual values, at the transformation and prosperity of society, at the development of man, at the disclosure of his moral traits, mental and physical abilities. and opportunities. The progressiveness of humanity, in the final analysis, has always been predetermined by its ability for self-improvement, for the most complete development of the person himself, for him (humanity) to maintain a normal and only reasonable healthy lifestyle.

It seems that we need to more clearly understand the very concept of a healthy lifestyle.

Below we present some of the definitions of healthy lifestyle that take place in the literature:

    "A healthy lifestyle is a rational lifestyle, an integral feature of which is vigorous activity aimed at maintaining and improving health."

    “A healthy lifestyle… can be described as an active people's activities aimed primarily at maintaining and improving health.

    “Healthy lifestyle is such a purposeful form of behavior that ensures the preservation and long-term maintenance of mental and physical health, as well as increasing the adaptive capabilities of the body.

    “A healthy way of life is, first of all, a cultural way of life, civilized, humanistic.”

    "A healthy lifestyle ... is understood as one in which the body's reserves are preserved or expanded."

    “A healthy lifestyle is a typical set of forms and methods of everyday cultural life of a person, based on cultural norms, values, meanings of activity and strengthening the adaptive capabilities of the body.”

    “A healthy lifestyle is a mobile combination of forms, methods of daily life that comply with hygienic principles, strengthen the adaptive and resistant capabilities of the body, contribute to the effective restoration, maintenance and development of reserve capabilities, the optimal performance of socio-professional functions by a person.”

From our point of view, the nature and target orientation of the concept of healthy lifestyle is predetermined by the word "healthy". The adjective "healthy", being derived from the noun "health", thus, carries all the main qualitative characteristics of the latter. In this regard, we note once again that health is a state of physical, mental and social well-being.

It seems to us that the concept of a healthy lifestyle should reflect such provisions that have historically developed in our society, which will help to clearly define and separate a healthy lifestyle from its antipode - non-healthy lifestyle.

And, therefore, we should talk about life:

    aspiring to the future. HLS has always been aimed at solving global problems associated with ensuring the infinity of human existence;

    creative Therefore, we are talking about life activities aimed at creating material and spiritual values, at ensuring peace and prosperity, at educating the younger generation, more prepared for life;

    restorative and health-improving. After hard work, a person should be able to fully restore his vitality, to constantly carry out a certain minimum of recreational and recreational activities, to use the natural forces of nature for this - the sun, air, water, the beauty of nature, and so on;

    developing. Every man must learn by means physical education and sports to develop and improve, strengthen and maintain their physical qualities and abilities, their health.

Based on the foregoing, we propose the following definition of healthy lifestyle.

A healthy lifestyle is a set of norms and rules of life that have been historically tested by time and practice, aimed at ensuring that a person:

    knew how to work highly efficiently and economically, rationally expend strength, knowledge and energy in the course of his professional, socially useful activity;

    possessed the skills and abilities to restore and improve the body after hard work;

    constantly deepened his moral convictions, enriched himself spiritually, developed and improved his physical qualities and abilities;

    independently maintained and strengthened their health and completely rejected the harmful habits of self-destructive behavior.

In this way, health is a state of physical, mental and social well-being.

Analyzing the above facts, it becomes clear that no less important in modern conditions is Lifestyle- an indicator indicating how a person realizes the living conditions surrounding him for his health.

Lifestyle - a biosocial category that integrates ideas about a certain type of human activity and is characterized by his work activity, way of life, form of satisfaction of material and spiritual needs, rules of individual and social behavior. In other words, the way of life is the "face" of the individual, reflecting at the same time the level of social progress.

Speaking about the way of life, it should be remembered that although it is largely due to socio-economic conditions, at the same time it largely depends on the motives of a particular person, on the characteristics of his psyche, state of health and functional capabilities of the body. This, in particular, explains the real diversity of lifestyle options. various people. Human lifestyle includes three categories: standard of living, quality of life and lifestyle.

Standard of living - it is primarily an economic category representing the degree of satisfaction of the material, spiritual and cultural needs of a person. Under quality of life understand the degree of comfort in meeting human needs (mainly a social category). Life style characterizes the behavioral features of human life, i.e. a certain standard, under which the psychology and psychophysiology of the personality (socio-psychological category) adapts.

If we try to evaluate the role of each of the lifestyle categories in the formation of individual health, we can see that the first two are equipotential, because are of a public nature. From this it is clear that human health will primarily depend on the lifestyle, which is to a large extent personalized and determined by historical and national traditions (mentality) and personal inclinations (image).

Human behavior is aimed at satisfying needs. With more or less the same level of needs, characteristic of a given society, each person is characterized by his own, individual way of satisfying them, so people's behavior is different and depends primarily on education.

The relationship between lifestyle and health is most fully expressed in the concept healthy lifestyle(healthy lifestyle).

Healthy lifestyle - this is such an activity of people, which is aimed at preventing diseases, strengthening and maintaining health. A healthy lifestyle combines everything that contributes to the performance of professional, social and domestic functions by a person in optimal conditions for health and expresses the orientation of the individual's activity towards the formation, preservation and strengthening of both individual and public health. Practice has shown that the formation of a healthy lifestyle from early childhood is the foundation of good health in adulthood.

Unfortunately, in the hierarchy of needs, the satisfaction of which is the basis of human behavior, health is far from being in the foreground, but in essence it should be in the first place, i.e. should be the first need. This is especially true for young people who, while still healthy, do not think about health (there is no need to preserve and strengthen it), and only then, having spent it, begin to feel a pronounced need for it. From this it is clear how important it is, starting from a very early age, to educate children in an active attitude towards their own health, understanding that health is the greatest value bestowed on man by Nature.

A healthy lifestyle is based on both biological and social principles. The biological ones are:

    lifestyle should be age-related;

    lifestyle must be provided energetically;

    lifestyle should be strengthening;

    lifestyle should be rhythmic;

    lifestyle should be ascetic.

Social principles include;

    lifestyle should be aesthetic;

    the way of life must be moral;

    the way of life should be strong-willed;

    lifestyle should be self-limiting.

The implementation of these principles is very complex, often contradictory and does not always lead to the desired result, which is primarily due to the fact that in our state the positive motivation for health has not yet been sufficiently expressed, that health in society, primarily due to low culture, did not take the first place in the hierarchy of human needs. And it is obvious that the most important thing in the implementation of health should be the primacy of human value (a person should be the measure of things).

According to modern ideas, the main components of a healthy lifestyle are:

    sufficient physical activity, providing daily requirement body in motion;

    hardening, which helps to increase the body's resistance to adverse environmental influences and diseases;

    rational nutrition, balanced in terms of a set of vital substances;

    observance of the daily regimen, taking into account the dynamics of individual biorhythms, hygiene of mental work;

    personal hygiene;

    psychohygiene, aimed at developing the ability to manage one's emotions and prevent neurotic conditions;

    sex Education, disease prevention sexually transmitted;

    giving up bad habits - smoking, drinking alcohol and drugs;

    competent environmental behavior;

    safe behavior at home, on the street, at work, study, etc., ensuring the prevention of injuries and poisoning.

At the same time, the current system of school education does not form the proper motivation for a healthy lifestyle. Indeed, most people know that smoking, drinking and using drugs are harmful, but many adults are committed to these bad habits. Nobody argues with the fact that you need to move, temper, but most adults lead sedentary image life and fear cold water. Improper, irrational nutrition leads to an increase in the number of overweight people and all the ensuing consequences. The difficulties of modern life leave very little room for positive emotions.

The foregoing allows us to conclude that the "knowledge" of adults about a healthy lifestyle did not become their belief that there is no motivation to take care of their own health. Conducted by G.K. Zaitsev (1995), the study shows that among high school students, the understanding of a healthy lifestyle basically comes down to well-known provisions: Move more! Take care of your nerves! Temper! Do not drink or smoke! etc. The author further notes that although the importance of such recommendations is not in doubt and that they are imprinted in the memory of children, they nevertheless did not become a guide for behavior for many of them. According to the author, this is due to the fact that, firstly, recommendations on a healthy lifestyle are most often imposed on children in an instructive categorical form and do not cause positive emotional reactions in them, and secondly, adults themselves rarely adhere to these rules in everyday life. life, and children see it well. Of great interest is the regional healthy lifestyle promotion program of the Soros Foundation, an integral part of which is a healthy lifestyle training program designed for secondary schools in Central and Eastern Europe (program leader and developer S. Shapiro). The main idea of this program is the presentation of health as a "whole", consisting of interdependent parts. Schematically, this idea is presented in the form of a stylized flower, the stem and stem of which reflect the spiritual aspect of health, and the five petals - respectively, the physical, emotional, intellectual, social and personal aspects.

The physical aspect refers primarily to the physiological processes taking place in the body, and the intellectual aspect refers to how information related to health is assimilated. The emotional aspect means understanding your feelings and being able to express them. The social aspect implies awareness of oneself as a useful part of society, the personal one - awareness of oneself as a self-fulfilling personality.
