Why scrofula occurs in children and adults, as well as methods for its treatment. Methods and general rules of treatment. Methods for the treatment of scrofulosis

Scrofula disease - is considered exudative diathesis or skin tuberculosis. It appears differently because pathological process can be localized on the surface of the skin, mucous membranes, bones, lymph nodes, joints and sensory organs.

Why does scrofula occur?

The infection that enters the body is similar to Koch's tubercle bacillus, which is why the disease is compared with consumption or tubercles. But unlike tuberculosis, scrofula is slow and easy to cure.

The resulting tubercles long time disturb the patient, causing local symptoms, which is how they differ from real tubercles. Why the same causative agent of these diseases behaves differently has not been fully studied. Infection of a child can occur both inside the womb and after birth. The infection can enter the circulatory system and be localized in the lymph node. Patients ask the doctor what kind of disease it is, why it has such a strange name. The name arose because of the yellow color that covers the crusts on the body and head of the patient.

Most often, scrofula manifests itself in childhood(from 2 to 15 years), but it can also be found in an adult. Exudative diathesis can affect people living in different corners planet, and this suggests that the disease is not related to the soil, climate or lifestyle of a person. It is only noticed that in warm climates it occurs more often than in cold regions.

If one of the parents was sick with tubercles or syphilis, then the child will most likely show symptoms of the disease. Conception while intoxicated can also affect the child's body, poor nutrition diseases transferred during pregnancy.

Acquired causes of the disease can be:

  1. Wrong nutrition. A diet consisting only of carbohydrates and a lack of protein can contribute to the development of scrofula.
  2. Early introduction of complementary foods consisting of starchy foods (cereals, White bread etc.).
  3. Poor hygiene conditions - failure to keep the skin clean, constant stay in rooms with damp and stale air.
  4. Infectious diseases - rubella, measles, diphtheria, whooping cough, scarlet fever.

Symptoms of the disease

Many people ask the doctor what scrofula looks like, how signs of scrofula appear. There are two types of patients - they are lethargic (torpid) and irritable (eretic). In the first case, patients have muscle weakness and thick adipose tissue. The face is pale and swollen, the nose is pear-shaped, and the lips are swollen and fiery red. Lethargic children have disturbed sleep, they are apathetic, they eat little. They have bloating and diarrhea all the time. A rash constantly appears on the skin, and the eyes, ears or bronchi become inflamed.

Irritable children are distinguished by thin and translucent skin through which blue veins. They are too thin, mobile and sensitive to pain.

On the skin during the manifestation of the disease, a rash, lichen, eczema and other changes may appear. characteristic feature scrofula is the slow healing of various abrasions or wounds.

With scrofula, the patient may begin catarrh: an endless runny nose, copious secretion of purulent mucus, the development of rhinoliths (stones), ulcers, with a yellow coating.

Eyes may be affected Airways. Girls may develop purulent curdled secretions from the vagina.

Very often with scrofula, the ears become inflamed. Usually the middle ear is affected tympanic membrane, as a result of which pus is constantly released from the ear.

There may be other damage to the ears. Very often, the disease manifests itself behind the ear, infecting The lymph nodes in this area. At first, the glands do not hurt, but simply swell. The pain appears after the formation of pus. The skin in this area begins to itch, crack, forming abscesses that open outward.

After treatment for scrofula, scars may remain behind the ears that interfere with the movement of the neck. Since the infection spreads through the bloodstream, it is important to start treatment on time, then there will be less scarring. Scrofula behind the ears in adults is characterized by the appearance of wounds that are covered with yellow crusts.

The disease can strike skeletal system. Moreover, the hip bones can suffer, knee joints and spinal column, resulting in a curvature of the spine, hunchback and inflammation of the membranes of the spinal cord.

Scrofula in adults may appear due to dermatitis or another disease, such as allergic reaction organism to a specific stimulus. When confirming the diagnosis in adults, treatment should be carried out regardless of the cause of the disease.

How to treat the disease?

If a patient has been diagnosed with scrofula, treatment should begin immediately. For the course of the disease great importance provides timely application for medical care. It is very important to stop the progression of tubercles in order to prevent spread throughout the body. To prevent the development of scrofula, prescribe local treatment, less often - surgical intervention.

Consider how to treat scrofula. Given the complexity and danger of the disease, only a doctor can tell how to treat a rash. An ointment or cream for scrofula is usually prescribed to lubricate the skin boils, and antibiotics are taken by mouth.

In childhood, it is important to properly feed the child. Breastfeeding is better mother's milk. But if the mother is also sick with scrofula, then breastfeeding the baby is dangerous.

It is good to spend more time outdoors. Do not allow the body to sweat, do not wrap children. Rest by the sea, swimming in sea water is especially useful.

Excessive mental activities should be limited. For get well soon important plentiful drink water. Useful fish fat, iron iodide, etc. It is better to refuse sweets or limit their consumption.

Since the itching during the illness is unbearable, the child constantly itches and breaks the formed crusts on the wounds. But in order to quickly overcome inflammation, the crusts cannot be torn off. You need to talk to your doctor about prescribing a soothing drug that relieves itching.

Many are concerned about the transition of scrofula to tuberculosis. Since the disease is caused by another (similar) mycobacterium, tuberculosis cannot develop. But because of high danger this infection should be treated qualitatively.

Modern medicine has all possible means for treatment this disease. Therefore, if suspicious symptoms appear, you should immediately consult a doctor. The sooner the diagnosis is made and treatment started, the lower the risk of complications.

Two perfect different diseases, one of which is scrofula, the second exudative diathesis, meanwhile, is often referred to as a long-obsolete term - scrofula. In this case, scrofulosis is the development of tuberculosis on the skin and mucous surfaces or damage to the lymph nodes. In people who have previously had tuberculosis, scrofula may develop as a result of reduced immunity.

Allergic hypersensitivity manifests itself against the background of mycobacteria in the body during the formation of primary non-progressive tuberculosis. Exudative diathesis is a consequence of the body's predisposition to the development of allergies. Let's take a closer look at scrofula - what kind of disease it is, how it manifests itself, how to treat the pathology.

Why does pathology develop

If we talk about exudative diathesis, then the disease is an innate predisposition to manifestations of an allergic nature as a response to exposure to certain stimuli. It can be food products, pharmaceuticals, bacteria and other elements. At the same time, there are characteristic lesions mucous and skin layers, lymph nodes.

Scrofulosis can develop in children as a continuation of exudative diathesis, scrofula in adults in this case is the result of the spread of harmful agents from other foci - for example, from the lung area.

Both diathesis and scrofulosis give skin reaction, but if during diathesis it is provoked by an ordinary allergy to certain substances, then in the second case it's all about mycobacteria of various subspecies of tuberculosis. However, most often the pathology in the younger generation develops precisely because of diathesis, and scrofula behind the ears is accompanied by the appearance of golden crusts. At the same time, physicians find it difficult to give precise definition in terms of what specifically provokes the development of pathology in childhood, but presumably the impetus can give:

There is only one positive moment in this case - if scrofula is diagnosed, the disease cannot be transmitted from a sick person to a healthy one. This pathology is not easily transmitted lichen, and therefore even with noticeable skin lesions there is no reason to worry about infecting others.

Symptoms of the disease

The development of the disease begins with the onset of painful itching of the skin and its peeling. At the same time, initially the sizes of the foci are small, but scrofulous crusts, primarily affecting the ear, eventually pass to the main part of the head. The areas under the hair are mainly affected, without affecting them. You may also experience:

  • The appearance of a rash, lichen, lupus.
  • There is an increase in lymph nodes in the neck.
  • Mucus or pus is secreted from the ear and nasal passages.
  • violated digestive process and there is bloating.
  • Hearing loss occurs.
  • The eyes become red and watery.
  • The patient complains of discomfort in the muscles and joints.
  • Seizures may occur.

With scrofula in adults, the symptoms are not much different from the signs observed in children - crusts also appear, and if the form of the disease is tuberculous, then weakness appears and worsens general state health, the temperature rises, sometimes otitis media develops, a runny nose with purulent secretions the lymph nodes are inflamed. There is pain in the back, aches that occur in the limbs.

Treatment of the disease

Consider how you can treat scrofula. Commonly used drug therapy in conjunction with traditional medicine recipes. There are also a number of rules that should be followed when symptoms of the disease appear:

Special treatment regimens for scrofula have not been developed; pharmaceutical preparations are used to eliminate symptoms and strengthen immunity. If necessary, drugs are prescribed to get rid of harmful microorganisms. Can be used antimicrobials a wide range exposure, enterosorbents help to remove toxins. With dysbiosis, prebiotics and probiotics are prescribed to restore normal microflora.

It is strictly forbidden to self-medicate with this disease - both the drugs and the duration of therapy are determined exclusively by the attending physician.

Judging by nutrition, you absolutely do not care about immunity and your body. You are very susceptible to diseases of the lungs and other organs! It's time to love yourself and start getting better. It is urgent to adjust your diet, to minimize fatty, floury, sweet and alcohol. Eat more vegetables and fruits, dairy products. Nourish the body by taking vitamins, drink more water(precisely purified, mineral). Harden the body and reduce the amount of stress in life.

  • You are prone to lung diseases at an average level.

So far, it’s good, but if you don’t start taking care of it more carefully, then diseases of the lungs and other organs will not keep you waiting (if there were no prerequisites yet). And frequent colds, problems with the intestines and other "charms" of life and accompany weak immunity. You should think about your diet, minimize fatty, starchy foods, sweets and alcohol. Eat more vegetables and fruits, dairy products. To nourish the body by taking vitamins, do not forget that you need to drink plenty of water (purified, mineral). Harden your body, reduce the amount of stress in life, think more positively and your the immune system will be strong for many years to come.

  • Congratulations! Keep it up!

You care about your nutrition, health and immune system. Keep up the good work and problems with the lungs and health in general long years will not disturb you. Do not forget that this is mainly due to the fact that you eat right and lead healthy lifestyle life. Eat healthy and nutritious foods (fruits, vegetables, dairy products), do not forget to use a large amount of purified water, harden your body, think positively. Just love yourself and your body, take care of it and it will definitely reciprocate.
